Vibeshine 2.0.6

These release notes cover the stable 2.0.6 releases, from the original stable release through this update. They also include the preceding stable 2.0.4 release.

2.0.6

Notice: Vibeshine may trigger false-positive antivirus alerts. Details and workarounds are documented here: #59

Fixes

  • Restored the Windows setup bootstrapper and MSI install actions from 2.0.1 after reports of installation and upgrade failures with the newer installer security checks.
  • The newer installer security checks and permission repairs remain on Canary for extended testing in nightly builds before returning to stable releases.
  • The installer no longer deletes every .txt and .log file in the install folder during migration.

This rollback affects the Windows installer. Other application and driver updates remain in place. Linux behavior is unchanged.

2.0.4

Fixes

  • Fixed a Windows installer security check that rejected valid drive-root permissions on some systems. Made uncertain compatibility checks warn instead of blocking installation. Critical failures now report the affected path, check and Windows error in the installer and logs, and are checked before removing the working installation. Linux was unaffected.

Arch Linux and CachyOS

Download vibeshine-2.0.6-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst and install it with:

sudo pacman -U ./vibeshine-2.0.6-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

Managed virtual displays require Linux 6.16 or newer. If matching headers are missing, the package prints the exact sudo pacman -S --needed <kernel-package>-headers command for the running kernel. Run it, then retry the driver setup:

sudo /usr/libexec/vibeshine/vibeshine-drm-install install

Or let the installer script handle headers, the package, and the firewall:

curl -fsSLO https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Nonary/vibeshine/2.0.6/scripts/linux_install.sh
sudo bash linux_install.sh --version 2.0.6

See the full Linux installation guide.
