Vibeshine will now restore primary monitors on graceful shutdowns and restarts. This feature requires ARSO to be enabled (which is default for the vast majority of Windows 10/11 machines). Alternatively, automatic sign-in also works the same way, but ARSO is much more secure.

The only scenarios where Vibeshine cannot restore monitors is when signing out or running commands that cause the account to be signed out (which prevent ARSO from working). In those scenarios, only automatic sign in would work at restoring the profile.

Example: shutdown /t 0 /r

That signs out the account, causing it to break the restore.

Correct command: shutdown /g /t/ 0

Initiating shutdown or restart from start menu also works without issue.

If the computer hard crashes, the monitor profile is restored.

ARSO (Automatic Restart Sign-On): This is a Windows 10/11 feature that securely caches your login credentials and automatically signs you back in after a restart (e.g., after updates). With ARSO enabled (which is the default for most Windows 10/11 devices), Vibeshine can immediately reapply your display settings when the machine comes back online.

Alternative: automatic sign-in: If ARSO is disabled, Windows also has a more general “automatic sign-in” feature (it just saves your credentials to log you back in after a reboot). This works too, but it’s less secure than ARSO because ARSO uses specialized protections to keep credentials safe.

In short: Vibeshine needs Windows to log you back in automatically after a restart in order to restore your monitor setup. ARSO is the preferred way because it’s both automatic and more secure. Automatic sign-in works as a fallback, but it’s less safe.
