RC2 hotfix: completed Windows builds were shown as uninstalled

This prerelease fixes the Windows launcher incorrectly showing Build the game, dimmed game artwork and disabled Graphics, Audio, Controls, Saves, Co-op, Mods and Cheats pages after a successful RC2 import and build.

What went wrong: the launcher checked the developer build-ninja executable path when deciding whether a game was installed. RC2 actually builds the game under the selected storage folder's local-games cache. Setup and Play used that correct cache, so the game could launch while the interface still reported it as unbuilt.

The hotfix uses the same cache path for setup, launch and readiness checks for both File #1 and File #2, including custom storage folders and reopening the launcher.

Updating from RC2

Use Check for updates in RC2, or:

  1. Close the game and launcher.
  2. Extract the complete RE-Outbreak-v1.0.20-rc2-hotfix-Windows-x64.zip over your existing installation and replace application files.
  3. Preserve data, storage.json and any separately selected storage folder.
  4. Reopen the launcher.

You do not need to import or compile again if RC2 already completed setup. This is a launcher-only fix; both RC2 build-input archives and their cache identities are unchanged. Existing imported game data, compiled games, settings and saves are reused. First-time installations still need to choose a supported disc and build the game once.

RC0/RC1 and v1.0.19 users should upgrade manually. Moving from those older versions still requires the RC2 game build inputs; see the RC2 installation notes.

Validation and scope

  • 2,016 launcher/Windows-service checks passed, including both editions, immediate build detection, reopening, custom storage, changed build-kit identities and hotfix update ordering.
  • The Windows Release launcher build succeeded. The self-contained hotfix passed 62 packaged UI checks across all 12 pages using an isolated copy of an already compiled RC2 game; the settings became available and the build banner disappeared. A read-only check also recognized the original completed RC2 import and executable at the correct cache path. All 7,953 sealed build-kit input files and the package inventory passed their hash checks.
  • Game runtime inputs are identical to RC2. Gameplay was not rerun for this launcher-only hotfix. RC2's experimental File #2, Randomizer and networking limits still apply; this hotfix makes no new gameplay or multiplayer claims.

The Windows launcher includes its .NET runtime. The application is unsigned. Supply your own supported NTSC-U disc; no game executable, disc data or PS2 BIOS is included. Dependency-source archives are for developers and redistributors; players need the Windows ZIP. SHA-256 files are supplied beside both downloads.

The exact Windows ZIP also passed 62 fresh-install UI checks across 12 pages after extraction to a path containing spaces and accented characters, using a system-only PATH and a nonexistent DOTNET_ROOT. Source, required Windows, shared Windows/Linux, server and visual-parity CI checks passed for PR #58. The optional hosted macOS job was still queued for a runner at publication; this Windows hotfix does not change the native macOS lookup.
