RC0 adds the experimental File #2 port, File #2 cheats and Randomizer support, D-pad fixes, ultrawide display options, and portable launcher setup improvements.
Download RE-Outbreak-v1.0.20-rc0-Windows-x64.zip, extract the complete folder, and open Outbreak.Launcher.exe. The launcher includes its .NET runtime. Choose your own supported disc, then click Build game. Compilation downloads a verified portable compiler on first use; no Visual Studio installation or command-line setup is required.
Supported discs: File #1 NTSC-U v2.00 (SLUS-20765) and File #2 NTSC-U v1.05 (SLUS-20984). Keep both build-inputs ZIPs beside the launcher.
Changes merged since v1.0.19:
- #13 — File #2 port: separate disc import, native build, saves and launcher support.
- #14 — D-pad tank controls.
- #15 — Portable launcher data and custom storage folders.
- #16 — Unicode paths in LLVM response files.
- #17 — File #1 Collections title sound bank.
- #18 — CPU movie decoding by default unless GPU decoding is verified.
- #19 — Child-window presentation fix.
- #20 — 16:9, 21:9 and 32:9 display options.
- #22 — Builds under long and non-ASCII folder names, with clearer setup errors.
- #23 — Brightness calibration image.
Additional RC0 changes:
- File #2 health, infection and ammunition cheats, plus supported imported PNACH data writes. Progression unlocks remain File #1 only.
- A separate File #2 Randomizer package using the shared selection rules: category-specific item pools, protected keys and starting equipment, scripted-enemy protections, persistent seeded enemy plans, and native model/resource limits.
- A new seed for each solo/host launcher session; joiners use the host's seed. Returning to the title within the same running process keeps that session's seed.
- Fixed missing original enemy entry registrations and isolated the native enemy loader scratch space after a live test exposed UI memory corruption during replacement loading.
- Fresh per-game portable build kits with all 11 presentation/helper shaders, matching LLVM runtime DLLs, and dependency sources corresponding to the published patch series.
- Fixed portable first-build failures and an opening-movie crash found in the clean-download tests. File #2 currently supports master volume; separate channel controls remain File #1 only.
Validation:
- 707 launcher checks and 634 native File #2 Randomizer checks passed. The portable-worker suite also passed.
- Live File #2 tests verified a handgun pickup becoming a rocket launcher, pickup ownership, equipping and firing; and a zombie becoming a dog that moved, attacked, took damage and died through the original game routines.
- Extracted-ZIP tests passed for both games: disc import, local native build, room entry, clean close and cached normal Play with the compiler unavailable. Tests used an isolated profile, spaces/non-ASCII paths and a system-only PATH. Two File #2 Randomizer launches also produced different session seeds, with the imported example unchanged.
File #2 and the Randomizer remain experimental. These tests do not establish every enemy family, every scenario or seed, full scenario completion, save/resume behavior, or live multiplayer combat. See File #2 implementation and validation.
The dependency-source ZIP is for developers and redistributors; players need only the Windows ZIP and their own disc. No game executable, disc data, generated game code or PS2 BIOS is included.
