Make LatentJam look the way you like: your own accent colour, pure black, rounder or sharper shapes, five page-header styles and a left-handed layout. Statistics now show how you listen, not only how much, several playlists import at once, and seeks and skips no longer click. Still fully on-device: no account, no catalogue, no network. Nothing about your listening leaves the phone.
New
- π¨ Appearance settings (#18). Pick your own accent colour, or keep the colours from each song's cover. Choose pure black for OLED screens, rounder or sharper shapes, how strong the colour cloud behind the player is, the cover as the player's backdrop, the mini player's style, and five styles for the page header. A left-handed layout moves the alphabet rail and the shuffle button to the left. Every menu, sheet, dialog and control now shares one look. The look is part of your local backup.
- π Statistics that tell how you listen. Besides how much: what is on repeat right now, favourites that are slipping away, what you played a year ago, songs you play in sequence, new versus familiar music, your sessions and the hours you listen. A playlist played on repeat counts as one row, and Your top lists playlists.
- π₯ Several playlists at once (#21). Pick several M3U files in one go; each becomes its own playlist, named after its file. Before anything is saved, LatentJam says how many tracks of each it found.
- π Presses you can feel. Buttons and cards sink under the finger and ease back, across the app and on the home-screen widgets.
Improved
- π No clicks on seek or skip. The sound rises over a few milliseconds instead of starting with a click, on Android and iOS.
- πΏ Albums play through. With crossfade on, an album that runs straight into its next track is no longer faded, and volume normalization changes smoothly at that seam. The next track's loudness is measured while the current one plays, so a loud song no longer starts at full volume.
- πΊοΈ A bigger Map. The Map now handles libraries of up to 10,000 tracks and keeps drawing while your library is still being analysed.
- β¨ Smoother lists. List covers come from a small on-disk cache, and the code for scrolling long lists is prepared ahead of time.
- π§ For You. A row keeps playing past its last card with similar songs, unless Repeat all is on. Rows move on once you have seen them, and a phase row follows how long you have actually been listening.
Fixed
- A media button from a controller without an app name no longer crashes the app.
- Restoring an older backup no longer resets the look you chose.
- A cover that could not be read once is tried again the next day instead of never.
- Readable custom accents in the light theme, and readable titles over a pale cover in the dark player.
- The alphabet rail selects the letter under your finger, and its bubble stays on screen in Arabic and Hebrew.
- Pinching the album grid goes the way your fingers go.
Install (Android)
Download LatentJam-v0.9.2-arm64.apk (36 MB). It's right for virtually every phone from the last decade, so if unsure, pick this one. LatentJam-v0.9.2-armv7.apk exists for old 32-bit devices.
Open the file on your phone. It upgrades any earlier release from here in place, and your history, playlists, settings and analysed library stay. You'll need to allow installing unknown apps and tap through Play Protect's sideload warning. Requires Android 7.0+.
Install (iOS)
LatentJam-v0.9.2-unsigned.ipa is an unsigned build. Sideload it with AltStore, Sideloadly or similar, which re-sign it with your Apple ID. AltStore and SideStore users can also add the LatentJam source from the README to get updates. Built for iOS 15.1+, arm64.
F-Droid
LatentJam is on F-Droid. F-Droid builds this version from source on its own schedule, with the standard ONNX Runtime, so that download is larger.
That build is signed with F-Droid's key, not the one used here, so the two can't upgrade each other. To switch:
- Export your data (Settings β Local backup).
- Uninstall the app.
- Install from F-Droid and restore the backup.
Beta, pre-1.0. Screens and settings can still change between releases. Tag editing writes to your real files, so back up the music you care about before a big edit. Found a bug? Open an issue.
