F1 Sensor 5.5.0 brings a new Weekend Hub, replay lap comparisons, historical results and driver-specific automations to Home Assistant. Alongside the new features, this release includes improvements to live timing, replay, dashboard setup and everyday reliability.

Existing dashboards, entity IDs and configuration remain supported. Favorite Driver is opt-in.

New features

Weekend Hub: your weekend, in one place

The new Weekend Hub brings five complementary views into a single dashboard card:

  • Overview — session status, recent events and available analysis.
  • Timeline — follow laps, pit stops, Race Control, weather and other available session events together.
  • Strategy — explore clean-lap pace, tyre degradation, compound comparisons and estimated undercut or overcut outcomes.
  • Telemetry — compare selected laps from a loaded replay.
  • Battles — explore likely on-track overtakes and distinguish them from position changes associated with pits, penalties or lapping.

Strategy and battle analysis include confidence and data-availability information, so you can see when the evidence supports a conclusion and when more laps are needed.

Choose a focus driver, gap reference and spoiler setting, and supported cards follow the same dashboard selection.

Replay telemetry: find those missing tenths

The timing screen tells you who was quicker. Now you can explore where the difference appeared.

Inside Weekend Hub, compare up to four driver/lap combinations using speed, throttle, brake, gear and time-delta traces. Compare teammates, revisit a quick lap or see how one driver’s laps differ over a stint.

Telemetry comparison uses selected laps from a loaded replay, where usable archived data is available.

Results Archive: settle the sofa debate

“Who finished ahead that weekend?” now has a convenient answer.

The existing F1 Results card gains an Archive view for historical Race, Sprint and qualifying classifications. Choose a season, event and session to explore published results, with columns suited to each session.

Race and Sprint results also gain completed-lap and total-time or gap information where supplied. Qualifying classifications show Q1–Q3 times.

Historical results load on demand, without starting a replay or changing the session followed by your live entities. No F1TV authentication is required, and existing Session Archive card configurations remain supported.

Favorite Driver: give your home someone to cheer for

Choose a favorite driver once and keep their position, timing, tyres, pit activity and team information available for dashboards and automations.

Five new device triggers let your home react when that driver gains a position, loses a position, enters the pits, leaves the pits or retires. Create a notification for a position gained, or build a lighting automation around their team colour.

Your selection survives restarts, and triggers follow Live Delay. Enable the feature in F1 Sensor’s configuration to get started.

Easier dashboard setup and interaction

Bundled cards now discover their F1 Sensor entities automatically, including renamed IDs and names with suffixes such as _2. Explicit source selections remain respected, with entry selection available for setups using multiple integrations.

Cards also gain standard Home Assistant tap, hold and double-tap actions, improved keyboard and screen-reader support, and more consistent translated interface text with English fallback.

Improvements and bug fixes

Replay keeps its place. Loading, seeking, pausing, switching and stopping sessions are more reliable. Weekend Hub follows playback changes, Race Control history is restored when starting or seeking, and old session data no longer carries into a newly selected session. Live-session cleanup also leaves an active replay running.

Session clocks keep ticking. Elapsed time, remaining time and the three-hour race limit update continuously, with corrected pause, resume and session-end handling.

Qualifying times belong to the right part. Q1 times no longer appear as Q2 or Q3 efforts. Drivers without a time in the displayed part show a placeholder, while the wide layout retains qualifying history.

Timing and messages stay consistent. Official best laps, corrections and deleted times are handled more accurately. Duplicate Race Control messages are removed, and timestamps respect Home Assistant’s timezone and 12/24-hour preference.

Live views recover more reliably. Connection interruptions and integration reloads are handled more smoothly, while analysis remains aligned with Live Delay.

Less unnecessary background work. Live timing resources start when needed, Track Map connections close with the card, and opening a tracking card outside an active session no longer activates live data incorrectly.

Compatibility fixes round things out. Settings remain accessible on supported older Home Assistant versions, F1TV Token Helper pairing works more reliably with Container and proxy setups, and partial tyre updates no longer produce misleading missing-compound warnings.

Documentation and updating

The documentation has a refreshed homepage, clearer navigation, focused card and entity references, and more practical dashboard and automation examples.

After updating, restart Home Assistant and reload your dashboard to load the matching bundled cards. Then try adding Weekend Hub, opening Archive in Results, or enabling Favorite Driver.

Capability-aware states explain when data is still waiting or unavailable without adding raw telemetry to Home Assistant states.

    The F1 Sensor integration now sends tokens to the Home Assistant address currently used by the browser instead of an inaccessible container address. This allows F1TV pairing to complete reliably across container and proxy-based installations. Fixes #628.

    The F1 Sensor integration and live data card now use each driver's official best lap even when earlier laps are missing, and keep corrections and deleted times consistent. The Race Control card shows each source event once. Reloading the integration also cancels pending driver-position updates.

    Release drafts and documentation updates now proceed when all applicable checks pass, including runs where unrelated checks are intentionally skipped. Failed or cancelled checks still prevent release, and publishing remains a manual step.
