0.8.5 build 2

New

  • DeArrow (new DeArrow tab in the settings, off by default): crowdsourced titles and thumbnails replace clickbait ones on Home, Subscriptions, channel pages and the rows under a video. Switch crowdsourced titles and thumbnails on or off separately - without a crowdsourced thumbnail it shows a random frame from the video, YouTube's start, middle or end frame, the original, or nothing. Added title formatting (Title Case, Sentence case...) on the webOS 22+ version, for every title, crowdsourced or YouTube's. Videos with a crowdsourced title and/or thumbnail replacement can show the DeArrow logo next to the 4K tag. Thanks @magicsk - #200

  • Playback Speed (experimental, webOS 23 and newer, off by default; UI Tweaks -> Experimental, then restart the app): 0.25x to 2x with normal-pitched sound, from the player's Settings → Speed menu or the new "Playback Speed +", "Playback Speed -" and "Playback Speed 1x" button mappings. Above 1.25x videos play at up to 1080p, since the TV can't decode 4K that fast. Thanks @Schmiddisen - #194, based on @GiacomoCa's webosbrew#484, with fixes from foxi69 and gorrdy

  • The settings heading shows the version: "YouTube Extended 0.x.x b<#>" on test builds, "YouTube Extended 0.x.x" on releases

  • Display Time in UI: Off, Time, or Date + Time - #203

Fixes

  • SponsorBlock no longer turns off (no skips, no segments on the progress bar) after switching to another app and back. Thanks @magicsk - #197

  • Fixed the picture staying frozen for about 20 seconds when pressing play after a video screensaver: it now restarts in a few seconds. Thanks @magicsk - #198

  • Reduce Telemetry & Tracking: Subscriptions channel tabs no longer show another channel's videos. Thanks @anilkusaksiz - #196

  • Settings: the highlight ring around the top element on the SponsorBlock/DeArrow page is no longer cut off at the top

Development

  • Test builds are built by GitHub: a push to the test branch with a commit title like "0.8.5 build 2" runs the tests, builds both .ipk files with the build number in them, puts them on a pre-release and posts them in the "0.8.5 test builds" discussion
