github Nexus-Mods/Vortex v2.5.0
2.5.0

Whether you’re meticulously assembling a gargantuan 1,000-plugin load order or just jumping in for a quick gaming session, we’ve got a slick new update to keep Vortex running smoother and faster than ever. Here is a quick look at what’s new in 2.5!

🩺 Health Checks & External Mods

Mods that require files from outside Nexus Mods are no longer a headache. They now get their own "External mod install" flow with a handy link straight to the source.

We’ve also added a clever coloured dot to the Health check menu; blue for suggestions and yellow for warnings, so you can spot the most severe problems at a glance. Finally, the requirement detail pages have a sleek new card-based look, and we’ve squashed a bunch of bugs causing stale data, missing thumbnails, and incorrect file names.

✨ A Fresh, Faster UI

You’ll notice that a few pages have been redesigned! We’ve started with the Settings and Preferences menu, which now have a tidy new tab layout (and your per-game preferences are now simply called "Game settings"). Keep an eye out for more UI changes across the app with each release.

We've rebuilt the Games page from the ground up on our new design system, modernised the category manager to make sorting your subcategories a total breeze, and updated the navigation icons across the sidebar. We've also decluttered your dashboard by clearing out the announcement and mod spotlight tiles.

🚀 Performance & Polish

Got an absolute mountain of mods? We’ve fixed a nasty memory leak that could crash Vortex during massive installs, and the load order page is now significantly faster, meaning moving 1000+ plugins is actually smooth again!

Tabs now work properly across all non-English languages, the plugin group editor arrows now all point in a logical direction, and we’ve made sure blurred adult content images stay recognisable instead of shrinking into invisible smears on wide screens.

🐛 Spot a Bug? Let Us Know!

We’ve done a lot of bug-squishing in this update, but if you happen to spot a wild one that managed to escape, please let us know! You can report any pesky issues over on GitHub (just remember to attach your Vortex log file so our dev team can figure out exactly what went wrong).

Got a burning question, some general feedback, or just want to chat about the latest tweaks? Come hang out with us in the Vortex channel on the official Nexus Mods Discord.

Finally, if you’re feeling exceptionally technical and want to read the raw, unedited list of every single GitHub pull request, you can browse the full, unfiltered changelog.
