Vortex 2.2 is here!
It is absolutely roasting outside right now and while stepping out into the sweltering heatwave might sound dreadful, staying indoors with the curtains drawn, an ice-cold drink, and a newly modded game sounds like an absolutely brilliant summer plan.
To help you survive the heat and keep your load orders running smoothly, we've got a fresh batch of coooooool changes for Vortex 2.2!
📥 An (even) Smarter Downloader
You can now set a bandwidth limit in the new download manager settings so Vortex stops hogging the entire internet connection, and to make things even smoother, we’ve completely removed the "timed out" error for massive files. Plus, VR mods will properly install to the correct game (Skyrim VR players, rejoice!), and we've banished a rare Downloads page crash.
🛠️ Reliable Mod Management
Closing and reopening Vortex will no longer cause your installed mods to mysteriously lose their details or awkwardly clone themselves. If you reinstall a mod over an older version, your chosen variant preferences are now safely preserved exactly as you left them and we've also updated our plugin-sorting data for LOOT (masterlist) to keep your favourite Bethesda games as stable as possible. Go get 'em Dragonborn!
✨ UI Polish & Quality of Life
Dashboard widgets now update instantly without needing a full app restart. Game extensions will consistently auto-update on launch again (and Vortex will repair any stuck ones all on its own!). We've also tidied up the interface by fixing chopped-off splash screens and ensuring long text wraps properly.

We’ve done a lot of bug-squishing in this update, but if you happen to spot a wild one that managed to escape, please let us know! You can report any pesky issues over on GitHub (just remember to attach your Vortex log file so our dev team can figure out exactly what went wrong).
