Prelude 4.0.13 — Nintendo DNS blocking and PRODINFO setting verification

Fixed

  • Nintendo mode disconnects Nextendo and explicitly blocks Nintendo DNS, regardless of whether you choose to blank or retain PRODINFO. Rules are appended after restored user entries. Nextendo mode restores its service redirects.
  • Keep per-NAND hosts isolation, emuMMC-ID selection, shared default preservation and the mode-switch recovery fix from 4.0.12.
  • Verify the saved PRODINFO setting using the actual INI section/key. Spaces and comments are handled correctly; invalid or conflicting values show an unknown state.
  • The screen now says the setting is saved for the next reboot, rather than claiming the currently loaded identity was verified.
  • Account-link fallback recommendations consider only the current NAND. Activating/removing the fallback does not change either PRODINFO setting.
  • UI descriptions no longer promise official Nintendo online in Nintendo mode. Both PRODINFO choices keep Nintendo DNS blocked.

Verified

Community test confirmation: Soul reported that the corresponding tests completed and everything worked correctly. The release asset is unchanged from the public test version; this report does not establish validation of every firmware/game combination.

Full automated tests cover all 35 original 90DNS Tester domains, extra account/telemetry endpoints, wildcard precedence, repeated mode switching, both PRODINFO choices, invalid/commented INI values and preservation across account-link toggles. Complete Switch CI build passed.

A physical Switch test of the DNS-policy candidate in emuMMC, with reboot between modes, showed the visible Nintendo results green/blocked. Nextendo showed red/unblocked results and some unresolved entries. The subsequent saved-setting/UI corrections do not change those generated DNS rules. A red result by itself does not prove the DNS destination is Nextendo; use the game connection and logs as additional evidence.

Firmware and scope

  • Firmware 23.x needs Atmosphere 1.12.1 for the upstream DNS-interception fix. Prelude cannot fix the resolver in Atmosphere 1.12.0. Official notes.
  • No firmware update is needed on a working 22.5.0 / Atmosphere 1.11.2 console. Prelude does not update firmware or Atmosphere.
  • Existing game, SSL and BCAT resources are retained. The known-crashing account-link fallback remains blocked on firmware 23 and newer.
  • Reading a saved blanking setting is not verification of the loaded serial or certificates. This release does not claim to fix the separate Horizon account-link 2306-0807 report without that user's trace.
  • Stock boot, sysMMC mode switching and every game on 23.0.1 were not physically validated. Older changes to other-NAND/default hosts are preserved, not silently repaired. DNS blocking and serial blanking are not ban-free guarantees.

Updating from 4.0.9

The original 4.0.9 downloader has an 8,192-byte HTTP-header limit. GitHub's current release redirect measured 10,772 bytes, reproducing the generic network error before it can follow the download redirect. Publishing a new release cannot replace that already-installed downloader. If affected, download this release's nextendo.nro manually and replace the file your launcher opens once. 4.0.13 includes the corrected header reader. This migration limitation was confirmed on Soul's original 4.0.9 installation; it is not a successful 4.0.9 automatic-update test.

Installation

This is the stable release, promoted from the same public-test NRO after Soul reported that the corresponding tests completed successfully. It is available through the automatic-update channel. Keep your NRO and SD configuration backups. Download nextendo.nro, replace the exact file your launcher uses (or install separately), and confirm 4.0.13. Apply Nintendo and reboot to install the DNS block; merely updating the NRO does not change the active hosts.

After testing Nintendo, switch back to Nextendo and reboot before joining games. Preserve sd:/prelude_trace.txt and sd:/prelude_trace.previous.txt if a step fails, with the exact firmware, Atmosphere and game/error details.
