Prelude 4.0.11 — automatic update correction
If your old Prelude cannot download this release, install the NRO manually once. Older clients still contain the fixed-header-buffer bug; publishing a new release cannot change the updater already running on the console.
Fixed
- GitHub release redirects send headers larger than 8 KiB. The old downloader silently discarded them and showed a network error. Header handling now grows safely on the heap up to a bounded 64 KiB, preserves packet/body boundaries and reports explicit errors.
- Preserve existing settings when SD seek/read/write/close operations fail; stage configuration changes with readback, recovery backups and checked filesystem commits.
- Detect incomplete resource provisioning and failed mode/account-link operations instead of reporting success.
- Decode chunked metadata responses and reject truncated or inconsistent responses.
- Reject invalid NRO paths, improve startup/font/thread failure handling and retain the previous session trace.
All game patches and host resources from 4.0.10 are retained, including GBA 3.4.0.
Verified
Full Switch build and automated updater/configuration/HTTP regression tests passed. On a physical Switch, the corrected diagnostic downloaded the complete public NRO on its first attempt (HTTP 200, SSL 0, 25,079,720 bytes), validated it and passed isolated SD write, rename, commit and readback tests. The installed Prelude was not changed by that diagnostic.
Manual installation
Close Prelude. Keep the old NRO as a backup, then copy this release's nextendo.nro using the same filename and location your launcher expects. With DBI/MTP, rename the old file aside first if replacement does not take effect. Confirm 4.0.11 after launching.
For a remaining problem, retain sd:/prelude_trace.txt and sd:/prelude_trace.previous.txt.
