The first public build of Dimensions Recompiled: LEGO Dimensions running as a native Windows program, made by statically recompiling the Xbox 360 release. There is no emulator underneath.

This is a pre-release. Expect bugs. Crashes, freezes, broken graphics and lost audio all still happen, and finding them is why this is out. How well it runs varies by machine.

What you need

No game data is included here. The installer reads your own files and checks they are the right ones.

• Your Xbox 360 disc, dumped and extracted to a folder. Not the ISO. The folder is right when it holds Default.xex next to GAME.DAT and GAME.HDR.
• Title Update 23. Not 24, not 22. The recomp was built from the TU23 executable and will not run on anything else, so it is checked by hash. Give the installer either the raw package file, named tu00000003_00000000 with no extension, or a folder holding Default.xexp, PATCH.DAT and PATCH.HDR.
• DLC is optional. Point the installer at a folder of packages and it takes them all.

Minimum: a 64-bit CPU with AVX2 (Haswell or Zen 1 and newer) and a Direct3D 12 GPU at feature level 11_0. A full install with all 30 DLC packs is about 24 GB.

In this build

• Your real Toy Pad works. Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 pads are supported over USB; the Xbox 360 one is not yet. Swap its driver with Zadig, then untick toypad_emulation in F4. The README.txt next to the game walks through it. If you would rather not, the LEGO Toypad companion app is installed by default and needs nothing.
• Optional Russian translation. Tick it on the components page and it is installed, switched on and applied for you. Community translation by maickdelaia. The game runs in English and reads Russian; turn it off any time in the F8 mod menu.
• 60 FPS, FSR and CAS upscaling, higher internal resolutions, achievements, DLC, mods.

Known issues

• Starting a new save and quitting before the opening cutscenes finish can leave a save that will not load. Play until you are walking around before quitting the first time.
• 60 FPS is an unlock the original never ran at, and most remaining bugs live there. Set frame_rate to 30 in F4 before reporting anything odd.
• Some scenes render with wrong colours or missing effects.
• The Vulkan backend is broken. Direct3D 12 is the default and the working one.

Files

• DimensionsRecompiled-Setup.exe for a fresh install.
• update-0.1.0.rxp is for the in-game updater, not for people installing by hand.

Antivirus

The installer is one big unsigned executable that unpacks a payload, which is exactly the shape heuristic scanners and SmartScreen dislike. It comes back clean: VirusTotal scan.

Windows will still show "Windows protected your PC" the first time you run it. That is normal for anything unsigned. Click More info, then Run anyway.
