Custom Attributes, Autofill Reworked, Revert Android TV Global Search to ADB
Setting HTML Attributes with DOM Events
You can now use the Fire DOM Event action to set attributes on the parent remote element. You can then use these attributes to selectively style remote elements and rows, columns, and grids.
Fire an event like this to set an attribute:
action: fire-dom-event
event_type: urc-attributes
attributes:
foo: barAnd like this to cycle through an array of attribute values, removing it when it reaches the last item:
action: fire-dom-event
event_type: urc-attributes
attributes:
slider:
- brightness
- colorSee README examples 10 and 14 to see how you can use DOM events to show different remote layouts or selectively display a remote element.
Autofill Reworked
The general configuration and remote elements no longer have an autofill toggle and no longer autofill as you edit them. Instead, remote elements are autofilled when you name them after an existing default key or source or when you click on the autofill icon in the editor header. This should help prevent unwanted behavior.
Action targets will still autofill for default actions and when not defined at the custom element level, but only for a known set of action domains that are used in default actions. It will also use templates that reference the globally defined platform entity ID and name fields rather than hardcoded values, which could become stale when you update the global card fields.
Configurable Touchpad and Circlepad Thresholds #310
You can now configure the activation thresholds for touchpad swipes and drags, and circlepad clickwheel actions. Touchpads now have a swipe threshold field present in their center interactions pane (it makes more sense from an internal logic standpoint to put it here instead of the direction tabs), and a drag threshold field available for single and multi-touch drag actions. Circlepad clickwheel actions have a drag threshold which is the number of degrees required to trigger an action.
Android TV Global Search Uses ADB Again
In their attempt to no longer not be evil and shove AI and Gemini into everything whether it's wanted or not, Google has replaced the default Android TV launcher search page with a Gemini one full of information completely irrelevant to someone trying to search for something on their TV. Additionally, they changed the SEARCH key functionality to no longer navigate to the global search page, and instead only open a bottom of the screen Gemini which only accepts voice input.
Because of these breaking changes, this card's Android TV global search functionality was broken on newer Android TV devices. This release reverts Android TV search to use the Android Debug Bridge method, and requires that you setup the Android Debug Bridge integration. Android 14 for TV has also made this more difficult but still doable, as described in the README.
