Featured Integration: RTX Remix for Minecraft (Beta)
- Fabric Mod Release: A Fabric mod that renders Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 through RTX Remix utilizing a new API rendering pipeline with improved performance. We've also created a PBR texture resourcepack and worked with Blockworks to create a demo map. Source code is hosted on GitHub.
With these new tools, modders and their coding agents can:
- Experience Neural Rendering: Utilize DLSS 3D-Guided Neural Rendering and live artistic controls.
- Target Windows on ARM: Deploy RTX Remix projects natively on ARM64 platforms such as RTX Spark.
- Streamline Asset Generation: Leverage ComfyUI 2.0 for customizable AI texture and mesh workflows.
- Expand Agent Automation: Deploy headless Toolkit instances with standardized MCP tool schemas.
RTX Remix Toolkit
Breaking Change: MCP Server Migration The MCP server now defaults to Streamable HTTP at http://127.0.0.1:18014/mcp (previously SSE at http://127.0.0.1:8000/sse).
Existing MCP client configurations must be updated to connect to the new endpoint.
Workflow & AI Automation
The Toolkit now integrates modular AI nodes and agent orchestration to accelerate asset creation.
- ComfyUI Integration Version 2.0: Replaced legacy AI Tools with a ComfyUI-based workflow for texture and mesh outputs. Workflow names, descriptions, and type filters make workflows easier to discover, while per-output application choices give modders more control over replacing or appending generated assets.
- Headless & Agent-Assisted Modding: Added a headless Toolkit host and a packaged modding-agent skill, with documented setup using public prebuilt development packages. Self-contained MCP tool schemas also expand compatibility with strict clients such as llama.cpp (GH-1097).
Rendering & Materials
- DLSS 3D-Guided Neural Rendering: Added global controls (Model A/B/C, highlight and volumetric tuning) to Render Settings and Preferences, plus per-material control masks.
- Smarter Material Properties: MDL ranges and conditional (
enable-if) rows are now respected so only relevant controls are displayed in the UI.
Stage Manager & Ingestion
- Edit State Filter: Easily locate modified prims, untouched prims, and prims with unused edits across Stage Manager tabs, with optional filtering by source layer.
- Tag Filters & Bulk Actions: Filter by custom tags and execute operations on entire categories at once from the Stage Manager filter popup.
- Select All & Keybindings: Added app-wide Select All workflow for filtered Stage Manager results and keyboard deletion from the viewport (GH-340, GH-359).
- Normal Map Conventions: Choose preferred normal map conventions during both model and material ingestion.
- Reliable Texture Ingestion: Ingestion no longer depletes VRAM (configurable worker thread count), addresses multi-GPU crash issues, and restores support for uppercase USD file extensions.
- Persistent Output Directories: Model and material output directories are now remembered within each project session.
UX & Interface Enhancements
- Viewport & Camera Navigation: Added uninterrupted camera dragging beyond screen edges and saved project clipping-plane overrides across sessions (GH-360, GH-1008).
- Transform & Property Controls: Added linked transform editing, live numeric previews with one-step undo, clearer reset tooltips, and simplified property section expansion.
- Layer & Light Editing: Added layer-edit transfers, reusable light copy/paste, spotlight cone visualization, and multiselection for animated particle properties.
- Project Operations & Repairs: Added Open Project with Capture, faster capture discovery, continuous progress feedback (GH-1081), directory selection without forced expansion, and project repair prompts prior to rebuilding broken
depsfolders (with a "Reveal in Explorer" option).
Performance, Platform & Stability
- Faster Startup: StageCraft loads first; IngestCraft and background services load deferred on first demand.
- Responsive Stage Manager: Viewport rendering is no longer blocked during Stage Manager refreshes, filtering performance is accelerated, and large selections no longer stall Properties or the viewport.
- Clearer Startup Failures & GPU Crash Reporting: Incompatible NVIDIA driver errors and renderer startup failures display actionable guidance. Crash data from NVIDIA Aftermath is now automatically captured for GPU crash reports.
Notable Toolkit Fixes
- Older Captures: Captures taken prior to moving Remix config into the
remixnamespace load with correct scene scale and up-axis, resolving particle sizing and orientation issues. - Legacy Particles: Legacy particle properties are upgraded silently in the background while hiding deprecated attributes.
- Skinned Assets: Resolved issue where skinned replacement meshes appeared oversized inside the viewport despite maintaining proper in-game scale.
- Capture Cameras & Lights: Loading captures clears stale game-camera overrides; orthographic cameras properly frame capture meshes; inspection cameras pan and zoom smoothly. Deleting a capture light halts its runtime contribution, and restoring it recovers original intensity settings.
- Viewport Light Rigs & Camera Lights: Light rigs remain active across capture switches; Camera Light no longer leaks into volumetric lighting pass.
- Textures & Property Copy/Paste: "Assign Texture Sets" retains emissive maps and displays them once emission is enabled. Transforms and pending texture paths copy and paste reliably prior to ingestion completion.
RTX Remix Runtime
Next-Gen Rendering & Neural Rendering
Version 1.6 introduces cutting-edge DLSS technologies and expanded hardware compatibility.
- DLSS 5 Integration: Integrated DLSS 3D-Guided Neural Rendering and added live artistic controls in the Toolkit. These controls give modders a way to adjust the effect while working on their scenes. In addition, integrated the beta performance mode feature for frame generation model (Preset C for Frame Generation).
- Sparse Rendering: Added uniform sparse rendering with a compact GBuffer and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. Sampling-rate controls give users a performance-versus-image-quality tradeoff, while compact resources reduce memory requirements.
- Up to 6× Multi Frame Generation: Added 5× and 6× frame-generation choices on supported hardware. The additional modes expand smoothness options, while resource allocation follows the selected multiplier.
- HDR Texture & Skybox Ingestion: Added OpenEXR support across texture types and HDR skybox processing without an intermediate 8-bit conversion (GH-319), preserving high-dynamic-range values through processing and skybox compression.
Platform & Driver Requirements
- Driver Baseline: Raised the minimum NVIDIA driver requirement to 616.92 and removed unsupported legacy DLSS CNN presets.
- Windows on ARM: Added Windows on Arm runtime support and public ARM64/ARM64EC build artifacts. Day 1 support for Portal RTX, Half-Life 2 RTX Demo and RTX Remix for Minecraft (Beta).
Bug Fixes & Stability
- Lighting & Shading Corrections: Corrected Thin Opaque subsurface backlighting (existing materials may require retuning as transmission is now smoother and brighter). Corrected several shadow, reflection, subsurface-lighting, geometry-flicker, and texture-streaming issues.
- Legacy UI & Geometry: Corrected legacy-game UI rendering, alpha blending, transformed texture coordinates, and adapter/process selection (GH-265, GH-392, GH-421, GH-157, GH-18).
- Particle Systems & Volumetrics: Corrected particle-system visibility, stale particles, and incorrect small-particle culling. Made volumetric dust size consistent across resolutions and corrected volumetric-lighting preset behavior.
- Compatibility & Multi-GPU: Addressed community-reported multi-GPU texture-ingestion failures and uppercase USD-file rejection (GH-1074, GH-396).
- Toolkit & Packaging Stability: Improved project repair, packaging validation, property editing, light restoration, and stability during file deletion, resolution changes, and shutdown.
Performance Optimizations
- AMD Driver Improvements: Selected
TraceRayby default on AMD Windows drivers, improving performance by approximately 20% in community measurements (from 53 to 63 FPS on driver 26.6.4, PR-146). - Sparse Rendering: Reduced sparse-rendering frame time by ~0.25 ms via resource and thread compaction.
- Draw Calls & Memory: Reduced repeated CPU processing for static draw calls and avoided GPU-memory allocations for unused rendering features.
- USD Hot Reload: Made USD hot reload faster and non-freezing by processing changed data rather than rebuilding the stage.
- Startup & DDS Processing: Reduced Toolkit startup work, accelerated large-scene filtering and selection, and removed per-texture exporter overhead from DDS conversion.
