Bloodborne PC Windows Port v0.7.1

This release adds optimizations to reduce shader compilation and draw-time stutters, improves clarity across temporal upscalers, hardens crash defenses for guest allocations and command queues, fixes mouse menu scrolling, and organizes the in-game overlay and cheat/tweaks menus.

Improvements

  • Shader Pipeline Cache Warmup & Draw Key Memoization (2083ff8)

    • Parallelized disk pipeline cache loading across hardware worker threads at startup, accelerating initial game boot and reducing shader stutter.
    • Cached dynamic pipeline draw key resolutions (SelectionCache) to bypass repetitive per-draw hash lookups and key construction on the render thread.
  • Vulkan Render Pipeline & CPU Worker Tuning (bb91ba0)

    • Cached compiled auxiliary tessellation, domain, and discard fragment shaders to avoid redundant SPIR-V recompilation during pipeline creation.
    • Scaled background shader compilation threads to prevent CPU thread starvation and hitching on 4–8 thread CPUs and handhelds.
    • Reduced default draw preparation scan lag from 64 to 16 draws (BB_PREP_SCAN_LAG) and introduced flat 64-bit XXH3 hashes for instantaneous prepared draw validation.
  • Temporal Upscaler & AA Clarity(466e8e7)

    • Downsampled depth buffers via custom shader passes with a 2x2 min-filter (forward-Z) before feeding upscalers, eliminating edge bleeding, halos, and silhouette blur.
    • Reduced accumulation history weights to minimize motion smearing and enabled YCoCg variance clipping, tonemap blending, and 3x3 filtering by default.
    • Masked dynamic ring-buffer base addresses during motion geometry tracking to prevent spurious jitter and ghosting trails.
  • Consolidated In-Game Tweaks & Permanent Overlay (f859705, 92c1461)

    • Centralized graphical options (Model Detail, Native Game AA, Dynamic Shadows, SSR Reflections, Free Camera, and Debug Menu) cleanly into F4 -> Visual & Graphic Tweaks.
    • Removed duplicate visual settings from the Insert menu and eliminated the restart prompt for live memory patches like Chromatic Aberration.
    • Made the in-game overlay permanently active to ensure character creation naming and text-entry dialogs are never blocked.

Fixes

  • Menu Mouse Wheel & Hover Details Fixes (cd4ca77, c0611c8)

    • Fixed mouse hover snapping the selection back while scrolling menus by deferring pointer tracking during scroll wheel pulses.
    • Hooked frameless thunk listeners so hovering rows in Inventory and Item Storage displays correct item names and descriptions immediately without needing gamepad or wheel input.
    • Credits: @HatsyRei (PR #170).
  • Crash Hardening for Memory Allocations & Command Chunks (6efb5ac)

    • Implemented VEH recovery guards at guest offsets 0x2199310 and 0x4370b6 to gracefully supply zeroed host memory when guest memory allocations fail, preventing unhandled access violations.
    • Added intrusive bounds validation to deferred command chunks (RecordChunk::InChunk), safely discarding corrupted list elements instead of executing invalid vtables.
    • Embedded detailed PE header metadata (timestamps, image sizes, checksums) into crash reports and added a secondary 64-bit runtime optimization mask (BB_TOGGLE_FILE2).
    • Automatically manages BB_INTEL_TONEMAP_FIX for Intel CPUs while honoring explicit user environment overrides.
    • Closes #158, #168, #171, #172, and reported Discord crash issues.
  • Dynamic JSON Scratch Allocation for Cheats (45e4500)

    • Resolved Win32 error 487 (ERROR_INVALID_ADDRESS) when opening the F4 Cheats menu by dynamically finding free 64 KiB pages within signed RIP reach of code caves and dynamically retargeting memory displacement instructions.

Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • GPU: Vulkan 1.3 capable graphics card (NVIDIA GTX 10-series+, AMD RX 400-series+, Intel Arc)
  • CPU: 64-bit x86 processor supporting AVX 1.0 or SSE4.2 (older CPUs without BMI1 are supported)
  • Game Dump: Decrypted Bloodborne PS4 dump (CUSA03173, version 1.09) with eboot.bin and sce_module/libc.prx

Installation

  1. Extract the release archive to a folder.
  2. Run BloodborneLauncher.exe.
  3. Confirm your decrypted 1.09 eboot.bin path on the Home dashboard.
  4. Pick your GPU Adapter, game language, graphics settings, and controls.
  5. Click Launch Bloodborne.

Updating from v0.7.0

  1. Copy the USER folder from \bloodborne_pc_windows_port_v0.7.0_release\user to \bloodborne_pc_windows_port_v0.7.1_release

In-Game Hotkeys

  • F1: Lock or unlock the mouse cursor.
  • F4: toggle the in-game cheat/tweaks menu.
  • Insert or L3 + R3: Open the in-game settings menu.
  • F11: Show or hide the FPS and performance display.

Troubleshooting

  • If the game freezes on startup or crashes when moving between areas, set prep_workers=1 or prep_workers=2 in the launcher or bbport.ini. Higher values use more CPU threads at once, which can overwhelm 4-core and 6-core processors.
  • If the game crashes during intense combat, cap your frame rate to 60 FPS in the launcher. Higher frame rates work well on high-end hardware, but they increase physics and particle load.
  • Avoid enabling conflicting frame rate mods at the same time. If you run into issues, try launching with only "Skip Intro" enabled first.
  • If you notice visual glitches or crashes after an update, delete the cache folder in user/cache/CUSA03173/ so the game can rebuild shaders cleanly.

Note

  • When reporting a crash, please click "Copy Diagnostics" on the launcher's Home tab and attach the latest bblauncher.log, andcrash log from the out folder.
