GoldenEye VR v0.5.3
Optional ragdolls and limb dismemberment, and fixes for GoldenEye X's rocket
launcher in VR.
Ragdolls and dismemberment (optional, off by default)
Turn them on under Play → Game rules…: Ragdolls and Dismemberment,
beside Bodies stay.
- Guards and players fall with physics in solo, co-op and multiplayer,
including bots, with native, HD or Bean visuals. Each headset simulates its
own bodies; they don't change health, hitboxes or anything sent online. - The tuning is ported from Perfect Dark CE's ragdolls (Jolt physics): the
human skeleton's masses and shapes, one-way knees and elbows, and how hard
shots and explosions push. - Bodies hit walls, floors, cliffs and slopes, and ride lifts and moving
platforms. Doors push them aside. - Shoot a body on the ground and it moves, bleeds where it's hit (native and
Bean wounds), and can lose the part you hit. - Dismemberment: strong enough shots, whole shotgun blasts on one limb,
and explosions can take off arms, legs and heads. Two sliders set it:- Damage needed (0.5 to 10, default 1.0, so pistols and rifles can
cut); - Chance (0 to 100%, default 40%).
- Damage needed (0.5 to 10, default 1.0, so pistols and rifles can
- Cut ends get red caps that follow the edge of the hole, on native and Bean
bodies. - Bodies stay sets how many bodies remain (Off/fade, 12, 24 or 48) in
every mode while ragdolls are on.
GoldenEye X weapons
- The rocket launcher no longer shows the decals from the far side of its
barrel through the near side. - Loaded, it holds GoldenEye X's own rocket. GoldenEye's rocket, sized for
its own launcher, poked its fins through the barrel.
Other
- The zdebug diagnostics switch logs its draw counts again (PR 188).
Validation
- Checked on Quest 3 on Dam with GoldenEye X weapons, Bean on and off:
- ragdoll deaths, blasts and bodies thrown against walls and cliffs;
- cuts with pistols, rifles, the shotgun and explosives, and their caps;
- wounds on shot bodies;
- the rocket launcher loaded, fired and reloaded.
- Native regressions run the real Jolt physics under ASan/UBSan:
- deaths with 1 to 8 players and 12/24/48 bodies;
- the skeleton, cut rules, blasts and caps;
- walls, uncovered ground, doors and lifts.
- Not yet measured: Quest frame time with many bodies at once. Not yet played
with two headsets.
