GoldenEye VR v0.4.7: GoldenEye X KF7 and VR controls, co-op gun drops and fixes, Quest 2 Facility frame buffers, and retained-body reinforcement tracking

Bring your own game. This APK contains no GoldenEye or Perfect Dark game data. You need a legally obtained ROM of the USA GoldenEye 007 cartridge you own. To use the optional GoldenEye X weapon models, you also need an owned Perfect Dark (USA v1.1) ROM patched with the GE-X 6a patch. Installing over an earlier release keeps your ROM and settings.

GoldenEye X assets and physical weapon controls (PR #117)

  • Optional GE-X 6a KF7 model, with its fire/reload animations on the virtual screen, loaded from an owned patched Perfect Dark USA v1.1 ROM. Matching texture IDs use the existing HD packs. Other weapons, maps and the GE-X campaign remain outside current support.
  • Physical hand reload for the GE-X KF7 in stereo: removable magazines retain rounds, dropped rounds return to reserve, replacements come from the belt, and either gun can reload directly at the belt when dual-wielding. B/Y ejects a magazine; release grip after seating it before the next grab.
  • Optional GE-X arms wearing GoldenEye's watch, including live wrist status and the pause watch. Both GE-X toggles are off by default.
  • Gun fit keeps separate GE-X gun/grip/scope values, adds reload grab and belt points, off-hand palm and watch adjustment, and the GE-X supporting-hand grip point. X cycles the available fit modes.
  • The watch VR settings now group live options into Comfort, Controls, Gestures, Weapons, Display, Game rules, and Mods and fun. Includes handedness, stick swapping, gestures, weapons, GE-X, screen size/distance/curve/passthrough and an immediate refresh-rate request. Texture-pack selection stays in the launcher.

See the GE-X setup guide and weapon engineering notes.

Co-op improvements and crash fixes (PR #115, #116)

  • Enemy gun drops detach and activate on joining headsets (#114, #115) instead of remaining glued to corpses. Pickups stay individual; live guard weapon changes are preserved.
  • Mission Statistics crash fix (#116): joiners receiving a mission start before choosing a local save folder now preserve their folder or fall back to folder 1, preventing the crash in report a16b05b5.

Quest 2 stability: Facility frame buffers (PR #118)

  • Frame buffers have expanded command and auxiliary allocations, guards against invalid/exhausted allocations, completed master-list validation, and telemetry logging to resolve the command-buffer overruns reported in 4bde84c2 and 76717e5d.

Body retention and Fast reinforcements

  • Body retention tracking: Keeping 12, 24 or 48 corpses now preserves original script fade delay (90 NTSC / 75 PAL ticks) and tracked replacement IDs across all missions. Retained corpses no longer trigger premature reinforcement waves or duplicate clone IDs.
  • Fast reinforcements: Preserves the enemy-surge effect as an explicit, opt-in difficulty option (off by default). Alerted guards can call multiple reinforcements while earlier ones are alive, at any body count.
  • Host-controlled co-op: In co-op, Fast reinforcements is controlled by the host across launcher match options, the watch menu, and Game rules. Changes sync live, clients follow the host's rule, and host preferences persist independently of solo play. Survives host migration. Deathmatch and split-screen retain original rules.

Validation and installation

  • Use Update in the headset launcher when v0.4.7 appears, or install GoldenEye-VR-v0.4.7.apk over your current version with SideQuest or ADB. It uses the existing release signing key. See the install guide.
  • The port's native test suites (multiplayer, co-op spawns, frame pools, debrief, watch, ammo/input/wrist, pause UI, display/settings, NTSC/PAL reinforcement baseline) pass 64/64 tests.
  • 40-guard reinforcement AI burst verified across 3 simulated clients with varying slot layouts, full client spawn queues, late join, and repeated roster packets.
