GoldenEye VR v0.3.8: crash reports that mean it
Bring your own game. This APK contains no GoldenEye game data. You need a ROM of the USA cartridge you own. Installing over an earlier release keeps your ROM and settings.
Fixes
- No crash prompt after an update: when an install replaced the app while it was running, the next launch read that as a crash and offered to send a report. The reporter now treats anything older than the current install as not its business.
- No crash prompt for crashes of old versions: v0.3.7 widened the Android exit-history check, which surfaced crashes from versions long since replaced on the first launch. Only crashes of the installed build are offered.
- Debug reports explain themselves: every report carries the Android exit history (times, reasons, the install time) so a report can be read without guessing, and the game log's
version:line now shows the build that wrote it.
Game content is unchanged from v0.3.7.
Install
- From v0.1.13 or newer: use Update in the headset launcher when v0.3.8 appears.
- Otherwise: install
GoldenEye-VR-v0.3.8.apkover your current version with SideQuest. It uses the same release signing key. See the install guide.
Testing and known issues
Tested on Quest 3. Multiplayer remains experimental. The network protocol is still 15: v0.3.7 and v0.3.8 play together; earlier versions cannot join and are not listed. Known: the laser, AR33, RC-P90, Magnum and Silver PP7 shoot through doors as the original game allows them to, which is visible from beside the gun in VR; other players' hands do not move; held guns are the game's low-detail third-person models.
