Minor Changes

  • An additional Windows tool called the GShade Update Helper has been added to help with checking for updates before launching games.
    • It is intended to be ran automatically through scripts or other programs, rather than manually.
    • It is located at: %ProgramFiles%\GShade\GShade Update Helper.exe
    • It checks for updates and then self-terminates if no update is available.
    • If an update is available, it will open the GShade Control Panel and prompt you to update.
    • As with any GShade update or installation, please ensure that any games you have installed GShade to are closed while updating.
  • The default Layer.fx/StageDepth.fx/Silhouette.fx texture has been made less fun and easier on the eyes.
  • The GShade Uninstaller has been partially rewritten to (hopefully) be a little more friendly to antiviruses.
  • Added a new built-in preprocessor macro for shader creators: GSHADE_APRIL_FOOLS.
    • This macro returns 1 if the local time is April 1st, and is undefined on any other date.
    • Please use common sense when developing features that make use of it.
  • Due to recent unauthorized redistribution of privately licensed assets by third parties, these assets are now downloaded during installation and no longer hosted on Github.
    • To speed up additional installations, once you have installed GShade to your first game, be sure to use the GShade Control Panel when adding it to others.

UI Changes:

  • Added a progress bar for update downloads to the GShade Control Panel.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where in some cases the core shaders and compute shaders paths would be set incorrectly during installation.
  • Fixed an issue where in some cases the recursive folder searching for the GShade Custom Shaders folders would be set incorrectly during installation.
  • Fixed an issue on Linux and Mac where if all Shader Search Paths were invalid, Windows-safe paths would be used instead.
  • Fixed an issue in the installer and GShade Control Panel where manually-entered file/folder paths containing " would not be detected as invalid, leading to a crash of the utility.

Known Issues:

  • If you are using the DXVK hooking mode for any game, please ensure that you are running on the latest available graphics driver. DXVK 2.1 uses very new features which are not supported under older drivers.

Shader Changes

  • The following shaders have been added:

    • GlobalAlpha.fx - A simple shader for adjusting the alpha channel (transparency) of the entire screen.
    • SkySave.fx - A simple sandwich shader for saving and restoring the skybox.
  • The following shaders have been updated:

    • CinematicDOF.fx - Fixed a merge issue which made near plane focusing behave improperly.
    • PerfectPerspective.fx
    • Silhouette.fx
    • TiltShift.fx
