Important Notice:

GShade 3.5 will be the final major branch based on ReShade 4. Minor updates will still continue to be released as-needed for any pressing issues or bugs. The next major update, GShade 4.0, will be released when a full rebase of GShade's features on ReShade 5 has been completed.

As this process may take some time due to ReShade 5 being a near-complete rewrite of the software, I thank you for your patience, your souls, and for using GShade.

Minor Changes:

  • Added support for a new set of folders in ?:\Users\Public\GShade Custom Shaders\ for custom shaders and textures (e.g. RTGI, AcerolaFX, etc.).
    • This folder is further split into three folders that work in the same way as those in the normal gshade-shaders directory:
      • ComputeShaders - For custom .fx compute shaders and .fxh headers.
      • Shaders - For custom .fx shaders and .fxh headers.
      • Textures - For custom image-based shader assets.
    • Common sense rules for power users apply. Do not add shaders or textures to any of these folders that share filenames or technique names with shaders and textures in gshade-presets.
    • The GShade Installer and GShade Control Panel will never alter these folders or anything inside of them outside of creating the initial folder hierarchy.
    • No backups will be automatically performed for these folders. As this feature is tailored toward power-users, management is entirely on you.
    • You can still use the subfolders of gshade-shaders for your custom shaders & custom textures. They will still be removed but backed up between installs and updates.
    • We do not provide official support for custom shaders, but can still probably help with the basics as long as you mention you're using them in our troubleshooting channels.

Bug Fixes:

  • The GShade Update Reminder and GShade Control Panel have been adjusted to be much more forgiving on connections to Github and the Reminder should no longer cause Github API limits to be hit.

Known Issues:

  • The Sims 4 users may not be prompted to close the game when updating from versions of GShade older than 3.5.0 through the GShade Control Panel or the in-game overlay, causing updates to not fully install properly.
    • Closing The Sims 4 and installing GShade again without uninstalling it will solve this problem.
  • Vulkan support for CEMU is currently not working. A possible resolution may be available alongside the future GShade 4.0 release.

Shader Changes

  • The following shaders have been updated:
    • Glamayre_Fast_Effects.fx - Fixed a very minor warning.
