FBNeo PS5 2.3
New: Daytona USA (Sega Model 2)
- Four sets:
daytona(Revision A),daytonase(Special Edition),daytona93anddaytonas(with Saturn advertisements). This is FBNeo PS5's first Sega Model 2 game, ported from MAME (commitb7f483f), including:- the main board's i960 and its TGP geometry coprocessor;
- the Model 2 3D renderer;
- the System 24 tilemaps;
- the Model 1 I/O board;
- the Model 1 sound board.
- It needs the I/O board's ROM,
epr-14869c.25. Put it inmodel1io.zip(MAME's name; the DAT lists it as a board set) or in the game's zip. - Controls: the new Driving layout is chosen automatically for Daytona USA.
- Steer with the left stick.
- R2 is the accelerator and L2 the brake, as far as you press them.
- R1 / L1 shift up / down.
- Square, Triangle, Circle, Cross are the four view buttons.
- It starts in English: the game's own settings say Japan, so the port sets the country to USA at every start. A choice made in the game's test menu lasts until the game is closed.
- Single cabinet: the link board isn't emulated, so the game is set to a single cabinet. There is no force feedback.
- The README has the details.
New: Favorites
Requested by dsb2020 in #5.
- On the shelf, Circle adds the selected game to your favorites, and Circle again removes it. A favorite has a gold star on its card and its line.
- L3 / R3 show Favorites right after "All games": only your favorite games of the current storage tab.
- The list is kept in
/data/fbneo/favorites.txt, one set name a line, shared by every storage tab.
Also in 2.3
- Smoother games that don't run at 60 Hz: their picture is now drawn on its own thread while the next frame runs. If a frame would still make the sound run low, that one frame is skipped (never two in a row) instead of leaving a gap in the sound. 60 Hz games draw as before.
- Buttons 7 and 8 in Settings > CONTROLS. A game's pedal on L2 or R2 is pressed as far as the trigger is.
- The NVRAM save no longer pauses the game: the periodic NVRAM file is written on its own thread.
- FBNeo's MultiPCM sound chip now includes upstream's state fix. For Sega Model 2 only, each sound write takes effect at its exact time in the frame, as in MAME.

You don't need to download it yourself.FBNeoPS5-v2.3-arcade.dat: the ROM DAT of the sets this version plays (for ClrMamePro / RomVault). It includes the Daytona USA sets andmodel1io.
Status
Tested on a PS5 with this build.
- Daytona USA runs at full speed with the default CRT Easymode style shader.
- In a three-minute session the race held its 57.5 frames a second, with no gap in the sound and no frame skipped.
- The music, "Gentlemen, start your engines" and the voices play correctly, and the engine sound is smooth.
- The game starts in English.
- Favorites: Circle adds and removes a game, and Favorites shows on the shelf.
On a PC, the Daytona USA sound board's output was compared with MAME's at the same commit, with the same inputs:
- MultiPCM writes and key-ons match to within 0.02%.
- The engine's pitch matches MAME's (median 257.8 Hz in both).
The build passes 820 host tests.
If something goes wrong, turn on Settings > SYSTEM > Debug logs (off by default), open the app again and attach /data/fbneo/logs/boot.log and helper.log.
