Media Player Classic PS5 1.5.4
What @Sulfurico-One64 found on #3 after updating to 1.5.3 from the app.
Fixed
- Restart App after an update now opens the app again. Up to 1.5.3, choosing Restart App after Help > Check for updates went back to the PS5 home screen, and you had to open the app by hand.
- Now the app asks its helper to open it again, then closes the normal way. The helper waits for the app to close, then gives the console a few seconds before opening Media Player Classic PS5 again, once.
- When it applies: only from 1.5.4 on. Updating to 1.5.4 still uses 1.5.3's restart, so the first time to see it is the update to the next version.
- The helper: it must be 1.5.4's, so put
MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.4.elfin your autoload in place of an older one. With an older helper, the app says to close it and open it again, as before. - If it can't open the app, a notice says to open it from the home screen.
- If you open the app yourself meanwhile, the helper leaves it alone.
- The version shown in App Information (the home screen's information on the app) still shows an older version after an update made from the app.
- The version that runs is the new one: Help > About shows it.
- That number comes from the console's own app databases. Changing them isn't safe, so the app doesn't touch them.
- To refresh it: uninstall the app from the home screen and let ShadowMount+ add it again. If you listed it in
/data/shadowmount/manual.lst, add its line back first. - The README's Updates section explains this.
- A message that said running ShadowMount+ again "registers the app again" now says what it does: it mounts the app's folder again.
Updating
- From 1.5.3: Help > Check for updates offers 1.5.4. Or send
MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.4.elfto your payload loader (port 9021). - Put the new ELF in your autoload: the new restart needs its helper.
Files
MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.4.elf: send it to your payload loader (port 9021). It installs the app, then stays as the helper that unlocks it.MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.4-PPSA99015.zip: the app folder, used by Help > Check for updates. You don't need to download it yourself.mpc-ps5-v1.5.4-src.zip: the source.
Status
It passes its host tests (613; one timing check depends on the test machine's load).
The new restart hasn't been run on a PS5 yet: it can only be seen at the next update made from the app. If Restart App doesn't open the app again, please report it with Options > Miscellaneous > Debug logs on (off by default). The logs are /data/mpcps5/logs/boot.log and the helper's helper.log (or installer.log).
