New

• Square with another action now does that action with the pointer showing too.
  • The action is set in Options > Player > Keys, for example Next audio track. Up to 1.5.2, Square was always the right-click while the pointer showed.
  • With Square at its default action, nothing changes.
  • The right-click is the touchpad pressed with two fingers. The context menu's commands are also in the menu bar (the Options button).
  • With "The touchpad as the pointer" off, Square stays the right-click while the pointer shows, so a right-click is always there.
  • In menus, dialogs and the on-screen keyboard, Square keeps its usual meaning.
• Fullscreen controls can wait for the pointer to reach them. Under Options > Fullscreen > Hide controls in fullscreen there is now MPC-HC's choice:
  • Show when the pointer moves: the default, as before.
  • Show when the pointer is over them: the seek bar and the buttons appear only when the pointer is at the bottom of the screen, and hide a second after it leaves. Moving the pointer in a window over the film, such as Options while you style the subtitles, no longer brings them up over the subtitles.
• The picture follows when you hold a jump button.
  • This covers holding D-pad Left/Right, the right stick, L2/R2 with Left/Right, or any button given a jump.
  • Up to 1.5.2 each repeat restarted the seek before it could show anything, so on a 4K film from a hard disk the picture hardly moved until you let go. Now the player goes from keyframe to keyframe and shows each picture before the next.
  • When you let go, playback goes on exactly from the time shown. A single press is still exact.
  • Dragging the seek bar works the same way.

Fixed

• A held jump or a seek-bar drag no longer carries over into the next file, or into a window that opens while you hold it.
• Dragging the volume slider when a window opened over it no longer sets the volume to 0.

Updating

• From 1.5.2: Help > Check for updates offers 1.5.3. Or send MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.3.elf to your payload loader (port 9021).
• Put the new ELF in your autoload when you can.

Files

• MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.3.elf: send it to your payload loader (port 9021). It installs the app, then stays as the helper that unlocks it.
• MediaPlayerClassicPS5-v1.5.3-PPSA99015.zip: the app folder, used by Help > Check for updates. You don't need to download it yourself.
• mpc-ps5-v1.5.3-src.zip: the source.

Status

It passes 581 host tests. It was run on a PS5 before release by the author, where the three changes above worked. If something doesn't work on yours, please open an issue, with Options > Miscellaneous > Debug logs on (it is off by default). The log is /data/mpcps5/logs/boot.log.
