Release v1.8.1: Spreadsheet Syncing Overhaul & 429 Rate Limit Fix
This is a hotfix release that completely reworks how the extension syncs data from Aegis and Finnald spreadsheets to fix the sync failures caused by Google's new rate limits!
reminder for all who don't want the spreadsheets: you can add your own custom wishlist if you want, just sync it in under CUSTOM WISHLIST then change the ACTIVE RANKING SOURCE to WISHLIST and have fun!
Why the change
Google recently tightened its bot protection across Google Docs and started blocking the extension's unauthenticated CSV export requests whenever it tried fetching tabs, causing spreadsheet sync to fail.
What Was Changed in v1.8.1
Additions & Improvements
-
GitHub CDN Sync Mirror: Spreadsheets now sync via pre-compiled
pve-database.jsonandpvp-database.jsondatabases hosted directly on our GitHub CDN mirror. This bypasses Google's rate limits entirely and makes syncing significantly faster. -
Automated Daily GitHub Action Sync: Added an automated daily cron job in the repository that checks Aegis and Finnald spreadsheets for new updates and commits fresh JSON databases automatically without needing new extension updates.
-
Immunity to 429 Rate Limits & Resilient Direct Fallback: Replaced the old CSV scraper with dynamic tab GID discovery and HTML table decoding. If the GitHub CDN is ever unreachable on your network, the direct Google Sheets fallback will now work reliably without triggering 429 errors.
