Experimental Android launcher options — incomplete runtime verification
This test adds an optional controller compatibility mode to the Java diagnostic screen, before the native launcher loads. It is not a confirmed fix for Android16 or the S22/Moto reports. Stable v2.2 and the earlier diagnostic remain available unchanged.
Known local limitation: installation and the Java diagnostic screen passed on the isolated Android API34 emulator. Default reached native SDL with the original HIDAPI setting, but the native window remained black and Back did not return during the check. HIDAPI-off, the complete return cycle and this variant's Share action were not executed successfully. This package is provided only for an optional diagnostic comparison on affected devices, not as a validated replacement for stable. If the test remains black or unresponsive, reopen the Java diagnostic screen or reinstall stable without clearing data.
- Open launcher (default): uses the original controller configuration.
- Controller compatibility (HIDAPI off): disables direct HIDAPI controller access for this launcher attempt. Android controller input and touch remain available. This does not disable every controller or change the separate game process.
- Refresh report / Share report: records the attempted profile and whether SDL observed the requested setting. Nothing uploads automatically.
Install the APK over the existing app without uninstalling or clearing saves. Try Default first, then the compatibility button. After a close, reopen the app, refresh the report and share its ZIP in the existing issue after reviewing the crash details. Please identify which button you tried and whether the launcher appeared.
There is no saved compatibility preference. Returning to Default restores the original value; opening only this Java diagnostic screen does not load SDL. Network features are disabled in this temporary variant. To return to ordinary play, install the stable v2.2 APK over it without uninstalling.
The native libraries and bundled assets are byte-identical to v2.2; this comparison package does not contain the later native initialization fixes on main.
