SaveState v3.2 — The Smarter Search Update
SaveState 3.2 is a smaller release focused on making everyday use more reliable.
Automatic save-path discovery has received another round of significant improvements, the KytyPS5 emulator is now supported, and SaveState can finally start automatically when the system boots, staying quietly in the system tray.
What's New
Smarter Automatic Save Discovery
The save-path detection engine is now considerably more accurate, especially with indie games, multi-language releases, Unreal Engine titles, and unusual installation layouts.
- Fewer False Positives: Generic folders such as
Games,Video, launcher directories, and common launcher executables are no longer mistaken for save locations. - Unreal Engine Publisher Folders: Save folders inside publisher directories shared by several games are only accepted when they clearly belong to the selected game.
- Title Variant Handling: Folder names that extend the original title, such as
CrashBandicootversusCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, are no longer treated as matches for a different game. - Better Title Normalization: Language and region suffixes, package-style folder names, possessive titles, version numbers, and
(TM)/(R)markers are handled more consistently. - Save Folder Suffixes: Folders named after the game followed by common save suffixes are now recognized.
- Install Folder Awareness: The actual installation folder name is used as an additional alias when matching save locations.
- Install Root Detection: Technical subdirectories such as
binorWin32are stripped before searching, so saves stored in nested game folders are still found. - Expanded Profile Checks:
My Gamesand user-profile root folders are now checked directly. - Safer Parent Scans: Container folders such as Steam or Desktop are no longer scanned as if they were game installations.
KytyPS5 Emulator Support
SaveState now supports KytyPS5.
- Automatic Detection: Both
kyty_emulator.exeand the KytyPS5launcher.exeare recognized when dragged into SaveState. - Portable Save Layout: Profiles are discovered from KytyPS5's
_SaveDatafolder. - Real Game Names: SaveState reads the game folders configured in
Kyty.iniand extracts titles from each game'sparam.json. - Clean Fallback Names: When a game is not installed, save folder names are cleaned up before being used, with the title ID as a last resort.
Start With the System
At the request of two members of the Discord community, SaveState can now start automatically when the system boots.
- Minimized to Tray: SaveState starts hidden in the system tray, ready to run scheduled and automatic backups in the background.
- Windows Support: A new Start with Windows (minimized to tray) option manages a per-user startup entry.
- Linux Support: A new Start on login (minimized to tray) option creates a standard XDG autostart entry.
- Disabled by Default: Nothing changes unless the option is enabled in the settings.
The option is currently not available for Flatpak and Snap installations.
