Solo v2.1.0

New

  • SOS (experimental, issue #56). Off by default. After a countdown your position goes to the channels and contacts you choose, and is sent again until someone answers with the ACK word. Answered shows who replied, what they wrote and when. An optional beep plays ... --- ... until you end it. While an SOS runs, the screen goes off after 30 s and the repeater rests (WiFi too on the L2). A received SOS shows a banner and stays on the map for 24 h. Other devices: Tools > SOS, start by holding Back for 3 s. L2: the SOS app, start by holding the top button for 5 s and sliding (this works over the lock screen and the PIN too). The message starts with [SOS], then your own text with placeholders ({loc} {alt} {time} by default, {batt} too); the position always goes. The messages stop once someone answers, but a zero-hop advert with your position goes on until you end the SOS, with each send and then at the Repeat interval (every 5 min with Repeat off), so anyone in range sees you on their map in any app, and a Solo that received your SOS moves it as you move. The GPS stays on until the end. Settings changed while it runs count at once. On the L2 someone's SOS is a red, pulsing dot on the maps and says SOS in Nodes. Still experimental: feedback on #56.
  • Discover (route discovery). Under Route (L2) or Path / trace (other devices): ask a contact for its route, with 1, 3 or 5 tries 20 s apart. The routes found can be used in the route editor, the way back as well.
  • Routes from messages on the map. A route written in a message can be shown on the map (L2: Route, other devices: Show route).
  • Summer time. Settings > Summer time (Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand) moves the clock an hour ahead and back by itself. The alarm keeps its time across the change.
  • GPS is off: starting the trail, live share or track back, sharing or marking your position, or centring the map on you now asks to turn the GPS on, instead of waiting silently or switching it on unasked. A share or a mark waits for a fresh fix.
  • Bot
    • New: {path} / !path (#55), {snr} / {rssi} / !snr, !dist.
    • Allowed commands: which commands it answers, set per channel, room and direct.
    • Actions can be limited to favourites (Actions by All / Fav). Position = Fav limits who gets your position the same way.
    • Reply gap: a minimum time between its replies.
    • Commands count only at the start of a message.
    • On the L2: a Log tab with the bot's last 32 replies.

L2

  • Gallery app: your screenshots as thumbnails, a full view with swipe and delete, and the saved trails.
  • The clock is set from the network (NTP) while WiFi is up.
  • Settings in one consistent order:
    • Name and Radio first.
    • Then Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS side by side. Tap a row for its details: the pairing PIN, saved networks, or the GPS screen, which has a new Options tab for power saving and the fixed position.
    • Then Device, Mesh & data (Auto-advert is now under Adverts & privacy) and System.
  • Recent packets on the map: tap the packet-flow legend to list the last 10 packets and replay one, or Play all.
  • Keyboard: a second symbols page behind #+= with brackets and the rest of ASCII.
  • One switch size and one height for main action buttons on every screen.

Other devices (OLED and e-ink)

  • Messages kept across a power-off (Wio Tracker L1 OLED and e-ink, GAT562 Watch13, Heltec V3 / V4, Cardputer ADV; the other boards have no flash to spare). Settings > Messages > Keep messages (Off / 500 / 1000 / 2500; off by default) saves them on the flash. Scroll past the oldest message to read older ones. Delete after and Delete history clean up. A busy channel can be left out with Channel options > Save.
  • E-ink: a shutdown leaves Powered off on the panel.
  • E-ink SOS: its status refreshes every 15 s and counts in minutes, so the panel isn't redrawn every second.

Fixes

  • Share my pos with the GPS off could send the last, possibly old position as the current one. It now asks to turn the GPS on first. From Trail it also goes to a running live share, as it does from the Map page.
  • Discover: a reply that came after its try had timed out could replace the contact's route.
  • Settings: the time zone says it's the winter time, which summer time adds an hour to.
  • Home: the title bar was missing for a moment when the Clock page is hidden.
  • Channel list: says "Fav only" when that filter hides every channel (#54).
  • Bot: !hops / {hops} say "known route" as !path does.
  • L2: map lines start from the middle of the position and node dots.
  • On a locked device with the screen off, one click of Back could start an SOS and cancel it straight away; after an unfinished unlock sequence the Back hold sometimes didn't start one; picking an SOS contact stalled the device for a moment.
  • L2: a setting change could be saved at once instead of a moment later, a WiFi test could time out straight away, and the home page could flip without the hold at the edge.

Notes

  • No settings are reset. New options start at their defaults.
  • L2 updates over WiFi from Settings > Firmware update once this release is published.
