MeshCore Solo Companion Firmware v2.0-rc3
The third release candidate for 2.0. Settings carry over from rc1 and rc2; coming from 1.x, read the v2.0-rc1 notes first.
Note
Wio Tracker L2: install this release by hand. Settings › Firmware update only offers final releases, never a release candidate.
What's new
- The settings the phone app had to itself are on the device, on every screen:
- Privacy: whether your adverts carry your position, and how exactly (Exact, or rounded to about 100 m, 500 m or 1 km, on a fixed grid so many adverts can't be averaged back to the spot); a fixed position, typed in or taken from a waypoint; who may ask for your status, location and sensors; the Bluetooth PIN. Precision contributed by @pmow.
- Adding contacts: all heard nodes or only some types, up to how many hops, and whether to replace the oldest when the list is full.
- Advanced radio, at the end of Radio: path hash size, double ACK, listen before talk, interference threshold, RX boost, RX delay and airtime.
- Per contact, in a node's options (the node card on the L2): who may ask for its telemetry, reset its path, share it with the nodes nearby.
- Factory reset in Settings › System, asked twice.
- A console. The phone app's console and the site's USB tools take upstream MeshCore's companion commands (
get radio, set tx,set name...) plus a key for every setting:keyslists them, getandsetread and change them as the Settings screen shows them. - QR codes: of this manual, and of your contact for another phone to add. Status › System, Enter (Settings › About on the L2).
- A conversation opens on its first unread message, under a "New" line, and reads down to the newest. Messages that arrive while the screen is dark or locked stay unread until you see them.
- A fourth Wio Tracker L1 E-ink build, for a 4.26" 800 × 480 panel (
WioTrackerL1Eink426, Good Display GDEQ0426T82), laid out like the 4.2", with Text size and Icon size in Settings › Display. Contributed by @pmow. - OLED and E-ink:
- Nearby › Map: the nodes with a position and you on one view; Left / Right picks a node, Up / Down zooms on it.
- A calendar in Clock tools: the month, today and the alarm's days.
- Cursor mode in the keyboard marks the place between letters instead of pushing the text apart, and keeps the keys in view; Up / Down move a word.
- CardKB keys typed during an E-ink refresh aren't lost any more. Contributed by @pmow.
- Wio Tracker L2: a Message banner switch in Settings › Display.
Fixes
- Sending no longer stutters while the contact list is saved: contacts and paths are written a while after a change, never while you are typing.
- The clock survives a power loss: it is saved every 30 minutes and restored on the next start.
- A hashtag channel's favourite tile showed its name with two
#.
