New features

Home screen audio widget. One widget for music, audiobooks and podcasts that shows what's playing and lets you control it without opening the app.

• Shows the status (Playing, Paused, Stopped), the title and the artist or author, with previous, play/pause and next buttons. For audiobooks and podcasts, previous and next skip back and forward.
• Resize it from a single row up to a larger size with a Continue listening list of your recent music and audiobooks. When nothing is playing, play resumes where you left off or shuffles your music.
• Each widget has its own settings: show or hide the cover and the status line, left or right alignment, Continue listening on or off, background opacity from fully transparent, text shadow, text colour (Auto, Light or Dark) and status badge colours (status colours or Material You). The settings screen shows a live preview on light and dark wallpapers, and uses two panes in landscape.
• The layout adapts to the widget's size, your display size and your font size.
• While you're casting, the widget controls the Cast device.
• Playback can now be resumed after the app has been closed: from the widget, with the play button on Bluetooth headphones or in the car, and from Android's media resume card in Quick Settings.

Music admin tools. Admins can now manage music the way they manage movies and shows.

• Edit Metadata, Edit Images, Refresh and Delete on tracks, albums, artists and genres, from album, artist, genre, playlist and library pages and from search results. The editor has music fields: album, track and disc number, artists and album artists. Deleting an artist or album says how many items and which folder will be removed.
• Identify for albums, using MusicBrainz.
• Edit Lyrics on any track: search for lyrics from your server's lyrics providers and preview them, upload your own .lrc or .txt file, or delete lyrics.
• Lyrics that aren't synced to the song now show as plain text in the player instead of not showing at all.

Collections. Add a movie, show, season or episode to a collection, or create a new one, from the item's ⋮ menu. A new collection can be opened straight from the confirmation message. Items can be removed from a collection from their own ⋮ menu or with Manage items on the collection page.

Play and download collections. Collections now have a Play button that picks up where you left off, plus Shuffle in the ⋮ menu. Download saves every movie and episode in the collection, including whole shows.

Edit people. Admins can edit a person's metadata (birth date, death date, birth year and place of birth), use Identify and Edit Images, and refresh them from the ⋮ menu on their page. The person's name can't be edited because renaming someone removes them from the cast of every item they appear in. The favourite button now shows on every person page.

Server log viewer. Server logs open in a console view. You can copy the logs you're looking at, jump between errors or to the latest entry, filter by tag and group repeated messages. Devices and sessions in the Control Panel show the logo of the app they're using.

Also new: Sort Title, External IDs, release date and date added in Edit Metadata for every item type · Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh and Verified Hot stamps on item pages · the watchlist and watched buttons are amber and green when they're on.

Improvements

• Downloads now ask before deleting finished downloads, before cancelling the downloads of a whole show, season, album, playlist or collection, and before cancelling a movie, episode or audiobook that's partly downloaded.
• Item, album, artist and playlist pages keep the main actions in the action row and move the rest, such as shuffle, instant mix, start radio and delete, into the ⋮ menu. Menus across the app look the same, and destructive actions are shown in red.
• Edit Metadata, Edit Images and the sign-in screen use segmented buttons instead of tabs, and Edit Metadata shows cast and crew photos.
• Onboarding recognises more local network addresses, including .lan, .home.arpa, .internal and .localdomain names and single-word hostnames, when telling local and remote addresses apart.
• Netflix Sans is no longer offered under Settings > Appearance > Theme > App Font.
• Updated translations: Italian, Russian and Swedish.

Fixes

• Movies with more than one version could fail to play with "failed to load media" from Continue Watching and from their item page once a version other than the main one had been watched.
• The address you sign in with is now saved to the server's address list, and refreshing server information no longer overwrites addresses you've saved.
• Control Panel: saving plugin repositories and changing scheduled task triggers failed with an error. Both now save.
• Marking an item watched or favourite could remove details such as the overview from search results and library lists until you reloaded them.
• The delete button for all of a show's or season's downloads did nothing once the downloads had finished.
• Labels in the media info sheet are laid out correctly.
