Compatibility Notes (6.0.x)

Known Issues (6.0.0-beta3)

  • The super installer package is not yet notarized by Apple. This should not present a problem for most managed deployment workflows, but downloaded super packages may fail when installed manually due to file system quarantine. Removing the file quarantine will resolve this issue.
  • Full support for declarative software update enforcement is still in the works. Support coming soon.
  • Due to swiftDialog beta issues More Info URL links are currently inactive.
  • Due to swiftDialog beta issues and timeouts for the user authentication and user schedule dialogs are currently disabled.
  • The MacAdmin's SOFA Apple Beta feed technically exists but it's not currently being updated by the SOFA project. Thus, systems enrolled in a macOS beta program cannot take advantage of this resource.
  • There are currently no publicly available Background Security Improvement (BSI, formerly named Rapid Security Response) updates for any version of macOS. As such, production BSI update workflows have not been validated.

Specific Changes (6.0.0-beta3)

  • Note this sub-section only covers specific changes for 6.0.0-beta2 to 6.0.0-beta3. Please refer to other sections of the CHANGELOG full details of all the changes.
  • Significant improvements to the method that tracks "over-the-air" macOS download, preparation, and installation progress. The super workflow now tracks progress via both the softwareupdate command output and a filtered log stream of the com.apple.SoftwareUpdateMacController sub-process.
  • New --auth-service-picture=/local/path | URL option allows you to specify a custom account picture for a new local super service account (because it will appear on the FileVault authentication screen despite being unable to log in and otherwise hidden throughout the rest of the UI).
  • Resolved an issue that prevented a new local super service account from being created.
  • Resolved several logic issues that caused unexpected behavior when using the --auth-delete-all option simultaneously with other --auth-* options.
  • Resolved an issue that would cause an incorrect macOS version icon to appear in dialogs.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented proper lookup of the macOS update/upgrade More Info URL from the SOFA feed.
  • Updated example PPPC Configuration Profile for allowing the Jamf Pro agent to create a new local super service account.
  • New example PPPC Configuration Profile to allow for testing super configuration workflows from Terminal.
  • As always, countless logging refinements and correction of typos.

Please refer to the Change log for full details.
