v1.10.62 - Emotes, a new debrief, Demo Studio and a livelier attic
Emotes
- A new EMOTES page on the Tab wheel (coop). Everyone starts with the salute; the rest unlock through your rank and Service Record challenges, with a padlock and what it takes shown until you earn them. The silly ones are in there too.
- Every emote has its own small icon on the wheel.
- The crosshair no longer draws through the middle of the open wheel.
End of mission
- A new mission debrief. A service-record sheet with your rank insignia, a rank bar that fills as your XP counts up, a PROMOTED stamp when you rank up, and each unlock shown on its own card, one at a time, with a picture.
- Challenges completed this mission are listed by name with how each was done.
- Press Use or Jump to skip ahead.
Demo Studio: ten new tools
Press F1 in any demo for the full list.
- Bullet time (8): freeze a moment and swing the camera around it. Mark it on the timeline and every render plays it. Shift+8 adds speed keys for smooth slow-motion ramps.
- Auto highlight reel (Shift+C): finds your multi-kills, headshots, long shots and the vehicles and planes you destroyed, and cuts them into a montage with music.
- Newsreel look (9): black-and-white 1944 newsreel film with grain, scratches and flicker, plus Sepia newsreel and Kodachrome looks. Shift+9 adds a title card.
- Music bed (0): put a game music track under your renders. It dips when the shooting gets loud.
- Split screen (-): two to four players' views side by side (whole-map recordings, bots included).
- Handheld camera ('): a war correspondent's shake on the free camera.
- Draw on the picture (;): arrows, circles and labels for breaking down a fight, in renders too.
- Trails and heatmap (=): where everyone went on the level.
- Follow anything: the free camera now also rides planes and watches explosions.
- Film Room: your films as picture cards with map, length, date and players (G for the list).
Split screen and the corner view need a demo that stores the other players' views (a whole-map server recording, or cl_recordFull 1).
Cover
- Look around from cover. In wall and crouch cover the camera keeps its spot, but the mouse or stick now turns the view, so you can look round the corner or over the top.
- Blind fire goes where you look, within what the pose can reach, and a loose orange marker shows where the rounds will land (
coop_blindCue 0hides it).
Norway finale
- Snipers and MG42 nests that can hit you. More rooftop snipers and MG nests, placed where they actually have a line on the defence by the tracks. Ground MG42 teams keep coming in from the facility: when one is wiped out, the next sets up.
- Snow kicks up. Bullets, MG bursts and the Stukas' strafing throw up a real spray of snow where they land, and grenades in snow throw a tall cloud of powder.
- Placed guns work like dropped ones. The armory guns, the FG42, the defence-line MG42 and the Panzerschreck now use the same pickup prompt as a German's dropped gun (tap to take or swap, hold for a magazine), and they fall to the ground when the carrier dies so anyone can pick them up again.
- Supplies on crates. The MG42, medkits, canteens, Panzerschreck and rockets sit on crates; ammo boxes stand beside them.
Progression
- Challenges give XP. Every completed challenge now pays XP: 100 for a one-off feat up to 600 for a long grind, plus 250 for an Elite. It shows as its own "Challenges" line on the mission debrief.
Sounds
- Weapon pickup sound whenever you pick a gun up off the ground (its own stock sound), and a lighter one for ammo.
- Artery hits have their own wet impact, and a soldier bleeding out from one now leaks audibly until he drops.
HUD
- Service Record messages moved to the right side, under your equipment icons, so they no longer cover objective and hold texts. Same wording and look.
- New kick-the-grenade icon in the style of the other action prompts.
- New hit and kill sounds: a real bullet-into-flesh impact on every hit, and a heavier one on the kill. Headshots still add the metal clank on top, so a headshot kill is the loudest confirmation in the game.
Menus
- Escape in a game now takes you to the 3D rooms. Main Menu opens the attic (with a BACK TO GAME button) and Multiplayer Options opens the multiplayer room at the lockers.
The attic
- The clock tells your time. A new wall clock face, with hands that follow your PC's clock and a sweeping second hand.
- The fan turns.
- The multiplayer door looks the same from both sides, frosted glass and all.
- The gramophone plays for real. Click the needle (or the gramophone) and the arm lifts, the record changes, and it drops back on with a crackle. The needle tracks slowly inward as the song plays.
- Field Report and Report a Bug are props now: a field-report board on the wall opens What's New, and a toolbox on the long desk opens Report a Bug. (The brown buttons stay in the flat menu and at 4:3.)
- A better-dressed room. Real Medal of Honor props replace the blurry ones (table, filing cabinets, typewriter, folders, projector, bakelite phones), the lamps are dark bottle-green, the briefing door moved to where the vanilla menu has it, and the chalkboard reads AWAITING ORDERS.
