All Cores Forward
- Big battles are faster again. On our test PC Omaha Beach went from about 31 to about 75 frames a second: soldiers are animated on your spare processor cores, soldiers outside your view are not drawn, far-away soldiers update their pose a little less often, and several hidden per-frame costs are gone. Every crowded map benefits.
- Firefights stutter far less. Wounds are now painted on soldiers without copying their skin texture back from the graphics card (same wounds, no hitch). The textures a fight needs (blood, bullet holes, wounded faces, HUD icons) are now loaded during the loading screen instead of on the frame they first appear, and the game remembers what each map needed so it is ready next time.
- Options > Video has a Graphics Quality control (Low / Medium / High / Ultra) covering Video, Advanced Graphics and Post-FX together, and a Recommended button that picks the right one for your PC. Your frame-rate limit, VSync and taste settings are never changed.
- The frame-rate limit is now exact, with new choices that match real displays (60 / 90 / 120 / 144 / 165) and "3 under" values for G-Sync and FreeSync (117 / 141 / 162 / 177 / 237).
- New, off by default: Frame Generation (beta) under Advanced Graphics > Display. It shows an extra in-between picture for smoother camera movement. Try it on a 120 Hz or faster display and tell us how it feels.
- The medkit, sandbag and ammo-box icons are smaller, show their amount as a small subscript, and show the key you bound to each one underneath.
- New "enemies remaining" counter at the top right on missions where you must clear an area, including the U-boat dock and the Omaha back line.
- Everyone now plays on the best connection settings, always. The old connection-speed list (modem to LAN) is gone.
- Mission fixes: a bazooka now waits by the rockets at the start of City Hall and comes back after you take it; spectators who press F now count toward skipping a briefing; the card players no longer throw a script error; a crouched blind-fire animation that never played now does.
- Rain from a map's own rain areas should no longer fall through roofs (City Hall and similar maps). We could not confirm this one by eye before release, so please report what you see.
- The "Score" line at the top right is hidden in co-op.
- Bug reports now carry what we need to fix freezes, hitches and stuck missions: frame-time breakdown, a hitch log, mission state, connection history, script errors, and a snapshot if the game stops responding.
- Quitting during a music fade can no longer leave your music or ambient volume stuck at the faded level.
