Clear the Beach
- Big battles run much smoother. Omaha Beach was the worst case: on our test PC it went from about 19 to about 31 frames a second. The renderer no longer rebuilds its vertex buffer for every piece of every soldier, and soldiers and props that are not moving are no longer re-processed every frame. Every map with a crowd benefits.
- Omaha only: bodies and gore far behind you are cleared once there are too many (nothing in front of you or near you is ever removed), and the burning wrecks out at sea no longer burn all mission. The crate carriers now keep 2 crates on the sand instead of 20.
- New in Advanced Graphics: a Quality Preset row (Low / Medium / High / Ultra - High is the look you have today) and a Model Detail row (Full / Reduced / Low) for extra frames in crowded scenes. Your frame-rate limit, VSync and menu layout are never changed by a preset.
- Fixed a crash when joining a game in progress (seen on the U-boat mission).
- A player who is slow to load a map is no longer kicked with "Server command overflow".
- Mission blockers fixed: the U-boat could not be finished after the bombs were planted (respawns are now inside the sub, everyone is gathered for the ending, and enemies no longer surrender there); the Omaha bunker back line counted surrendered men; the church defence now waits 30 seconds after the smoke before the attack starts, and ends in mission failure if the church is overrun.
- Paratroopers you call in now actually drop where you can see them on maps with a low sky (they used to land on top of the sky). Flak bursts show again around aircraft.
- The small event text no longer overlaps the medkit, ammo and sandbag counters at any resolution.
- Pistol aimed reloads (Colt .45, Hi-Standard, P38): the gun stays in your hand while the magazine goes in.
- In-game recording still works, and the clip keys can no longer throw you out of the game.
- Fewer "bullet tracer" console lines in heavy fire, which also removes a source of stutter on the beach.
