Notes

  • Getting Started with Syntherrupter
  • How to Flash the Firmwares
  • If you flash the Tiva for the first time or increase the coil number always check ALL settings. You should check it after each update, too. Just in case...
  • Nextion firmware versions 3.0.1 or higher are not compatible with Tiva firmwares lower than v3.0.1.
  • Nextion and Tiva firmware versions 3.1.0 or higher are not compatible with any previous version.
  • Nextion and Tiva firmware versions 4.0.0 or higher are not compatible with any previous version.
  • Nextion and Tiva firmware versions 4.1.0 or higher are not compatible with any previous version.

Big Changes

  • Wiki. It contains an (almost) complete documentation of all the software and hardware features of Syntherrupter. In addition there are a few tutorials, like how to flash a new firmware. While it already contains more information than anyone will ever read, it will continue to grow; there're still things missing.
    • Wiki too big? No time for searching through it? Noo problem. On Syntherrupter, go to Help and Info and enable help mode. It will give you a QR code for any part of the UI. No need to search and scroll yourself!
  • Lightsaber Mode. Thx Netzpfuscher for the idea. Build your own lightsaber with only an ESP8266, an MPU-6050 sensor, and a 3.3V supply. How? => Wiki! The sound effect is still pretty basic and especially disappointing when two lightsabers hit each other buuut it's good enough to play with. Currently no motivation to further improve it. However, any contributions are welcome!
  • Envelope Editor. Edit and save your own envelopes (which have more possibilities, too!)
    • Envelopes 1-19 are just like they used to be.
    • Envelopes 20-39 will be stored in EEPROM and can be customized.
  • Dark Mode! Looks sexy, right?

Minor Changes

  • Bugfixes. See v4.1.0 beta release notes for details.
  • New Stereo Modes (New: Modes 3, 4, 5, 6). They provide better visualization for channels with chords.
  • Independant MIDI buffers. All MIDI inputs (USB serial, MIDI serial, manual input from UI) can now be used simultaneously. Previously the commands would be randomly mixed together.
  • Replaced exponential pitch bend and note frequency calculation by a LUT and linear interpolation. Relative error is <1 Cent and thus not audible. Advantage: takes less time to calculate.
  • Reduced Effect resolution from 1ms (1kHz) to 2ms (500Hz). Shouldn't be audible either.

Would finally someone click this damn link and become curious?? Live long and prosper
