After a very long time, I'm excited to release the stable 2.0.0 version of Caesium!
This version is a massive step up over the previous one and these are some of the key improvements made over the course of those years:
- 💻 Complete code rewrite - previous version was good, but the foundations were kinda weak. Now it's much more stable and maintainable.
- 📈 Using libcaesium for compressing - it's just faster, better and way more flexible than before.
- 🗂 Lossless compression - so you won't see (literally) any changes from the original image.
- 🖥 Cross-platform - Windows and macOS binaries are available, but Caesium is fully compatible with all Linux distros.
- 🏃🏼 Multicore - takes advantage of the modern processors to speed up a LOT than before.
- 🌓 Complete UI redesign - more modern with support for light/dark themes
- 🌟 Automatic updates - integrated with the OS
- 🏴☠️ Multilanguage - a complete new set of translations and if you want to contribute, please head here
A QUICK WORD ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The development of this project was possible because it always had an amazing community supporting it over the years. The last stable release of Caesium was the 1.7.0, almost 9 years ago. In all this time, people continued to donate, give feedback, contribute and help me developing what Caesium is today.
