Patch Notes: Revenants - gear, arts and missions abroad
Gear for your sworn revenants
- Sworn revenants now have ten gear slots: a weapon, a shield, a helm, two pauldrons, a cuirass, gauntlets, greaves, boots and a charm. Open the Companions page (pause menu, Holdings), press Gear on a companion's card, and give it pieces from your pack. Take back returns a piece to your pack.
- People, orcs and centaurs wear weapons and armour. Every kind can wear a charm.
- A revenant's rank limits what it can bear:
- Rank I takes up to Silver and Magic pieces, Rank II Dwarven and Rare, Rank III Adamantium, Rank IV Orcish and Legendary, and Rank V Daedric.
- A piece it can't wear says which rank it needs.
- The pieces it can wear are listed first. Show more lists the rest of your pack.
- A piece you give replaces the one it would have rolled for itself, and its rarity bonuses apply to it.
- A shield needs a whole one-handed weapon given with it.
- Given gear wears down in battle like yours does. The Gear sheet shows each piece's condition. A broken piece is marked and isn't worn until you take it back and have it repaired.
- Gear counts as your inventory: you get it back when you release a revenant, and a deserter keeps the more valuable half.
Revenant arts
- One revenant in three is born with an art: Mending, Ward, War Cry, Siphon, Barrage or Nova.
- Against you, from Rank II (with Enhanced AI):
- Mending, Ward and War Cry are channelled. A coloured disc around the revenant's own feet means it is channelling. Hit it, or hurt it in any way, to break the spell.
- Siphon, Barrage and Nova are thrown at you. They are marked on the ground like other telegraphed attacks: move out of the mark.
- A paralysed revenant can't use its art. A silenced one can't either, except War Cry.
- For you, once sworn, at any rank:
- Mending heals you when you drop low.
- Ward shields you, and War Cry raises your Strength, as it goes into a fight.
- Siphon, Barrage and Nova strike hostile foes it can see, within 12 m, and hit harder at a higher rank.
- The Revenants page and the Companions page say what each revenant's art does.
Missions abroad
- Press Mission on a sworn revenant to send it to any of Tamriel's nine provinces.
- Choose Plunder for loot, Forage for crafting materials, or Sell-sword for gold.
- The trip takes one to four days of your character's time, depending on the province.
- Online, those days pass only while you play: resting, waiting and travelling don't speed it up. A day abroad is about two hours of play.
- When it comes back, the haul goes straight into your purse, your pack and your Materials Bag.
- Each province has its own danger and its own goods: Skyrim's orichalcum and pelts, Morrowind's ebony and Dwemer metal, Black Marsh's venom.
- Its odds depend on its rank and its gear against the province's danger, and the page shows them before you send it.
- On a good trip it brings the whole haul and grows more loyal.
- On a hard trip it brings half and comes back hurt, needing a rest.
- It never deserts while it is abroad.
- Up to two revenants can be abroad at once. Recall brings one back at once, empty-handed, and it must rest from the road. The page asks before recalling.
