Patch Notes: Weapon glow

Your element, in your hand

Weapons with a fire, frost or shock damage bonus now show it. Whether the bonus is the weapon's own or comes from a Ruby or Sapphire set in it, the weapon wears an animated outline of its element:

  • Fire gives off rising flames and drifting embers.
  • Frost forms a breathing rime with glinting ice spikes.
  • Shock crackles along the edge and throws off arcs.

The bigger the bonus, the bigger and brighter the outline. A small bonus is a faint edge; a strong one, or a bonus plus a gem, burns bright.

Morrowind weapons glow too

On the Morrowind first-person and third-person models the outline wraps the 3D weapon, and the blade's surface is charged with its element as well. An enchanted Morrowind weapon with no element now glows with an arcane light, like classic enchanted weapons always have.

Online

Once the servers are updated, other players' weapons glow on their Morrowind bodies as they do in their hands. Your Weapon glow switch decides only what you see.

Good to know

  • A weapon you haven't identified keeps its element hidden until you identify it, as its card does.
  • Turn it off under Settings → Combat → Weapons in hand → Weapon glow. Off shows weapons exactly as before.

What's Changed

  • WEAPON-GLOW1: a weapon's element drawn in the hand - an animated outline per element, classic and Morrowind (audited) by @Lattymoy in #944
