Patch Notes: The Firmament, and a calmer front door, character creation and HUD
The Firmament (online)
- A new passive tree for everything you do online. Open it from the Firmament button on the Stats page (pause menu or character sheet).
- Choose one of seven birthsigns, then spend Stars on combat stars and Craft points on the life ring - gathering, crafting, trading, hunting and sailing.
- You earn 2 Stars for every Renown level, and 1 Craft point for every 8 profession ranks.
- Changes are free to plan until you confirm them. Taking stars back is free below Renown 10, then costs 10 silver per star. A full reset costs 10,000 gold.
- Your stars never affect hits or spells against other players, and they switch off in duels and while you mentor.
- Works in Enhanced Plus and DFO Grimoire, and on phones: tap a star to read it, tap again to take it.
- The Firmament's own text is English for now.
Main menu
- The main menu first asks one question: Online or Offline. Offline opens Continue, New Game, Load Game and the Test Room, with a way back.
- Settings and Overhauls are now in the menu's bottom bar beside Screenshots and About.
- The bottom bar no longer covers the menu's buttons on phones, small or short screens, and long languages.
- In DFO Grimoire, the menu's two pages appear only where the screen is tall enough; otherwise one page is shown.
- Double-clicking Offline no longer opens Load Game by accident.
- Escape puts the keyboard back on the button you came from.
- Tutorials and Screenshots are now translated.
Character creation
- Classes are grouped as Magic, Stealth and Combat, and each shows the two attributes it relies on.
- The class card shows the class's attributes, skills and health per level before you read its description. Health now reads as the real range, for example "3-6 a level, more with Endurance".
- On phones, "Begin your life" and "Play as..." stay on screen.
- A greyed-out button that is waiting (for example "18 left to spend") is now readable.
- The province names on the map no longer overlap or run off it.
- Clicking through classes no longer plays the drums every time - only when you choose one.
- Start over now sits beside Back.
- Buttons say "Play as an Acrobat", not "Play as a Acrobat".
HUD
- Calm HUD (Features, on by default): the health, fatigue and magicka bars fade out while all three are full and no enemy is targeted, and come back the moment you lose or spend a point.
- The saddle panel is a small block in the bottom-right corner. F2 shows or hides it (rebindable in Controls). The Horse care setting chooses When needed, Always or Off.
- On touch screens the saddle panel no longer covers the compass.
- The temperature reading sits in the bottom-left corner.
Menus
- DFO Grimoire no longer draws dotted lines.
- The Stable's horse look is now swatches and arrows instead of large buttons.
- Small text across Settings and character creation is now at least 12px and easier to read.
- The pause window's tabs wrap instead of running off the window in long languages.
- In DFO Grimoire on phones, the side menu (including "Main menu") is readable again.
