Patch Notes: Hacked gold

Letters of credit stay with you online

  • Online, a letter of credit can't be put into a chest, a cupboard or a body any more. A shared container is everyone's, so the letter stays in your pack. To give one to another player, hand it over in a trade.
  • Your own storage (your house's cupboards, your ship's chest), a pile you dropped yourself and your wagon still take letters. Offline nothing changes.
  • Outside a trade, a letter of credit never reaches you through another player's game. That covers a shared chest, a body they let you loot, and a foe's pack handed to you.
  • A letter of credit that was already lying in a shared chest or on a body when this update arrived is gone from it. Anyone could take it from there before, and the game can't tell it from a forged one.

Prices you can trust

  • An item that reaches you through another player's game (a chest, a body, a shelf) can't carry a higher price than an honest item of its kind could.
  • The gear a fallen player leaves in the wilds holds only things that can be worn.

The realm's checks

  • A purse, a letter of credit or a pile of gold holding more than 2,147,483,647 gold (more than Daggerfall itself can count) is now flagged as tampered. That character can't trade, sell or send gold to other players until the problem is gone or staff clear it.

What's Changed

  • HACKED-GOLD: a letter of credit never rides a peer's word, a peer's price under the law's ceiling, gold is one DFU int by @Lattymoy in #853
