Patch Notes: Smooth Overworld travel, private quest monsters, clearer loot
Smooth Overworld travel
- At high travel speeds (×100) your character, the ring under them and the route line now move smoothly instead of stuttering.
- Your speed no longer drops to ×60 for the rest of a trip after a small gap in the road. Leaving the road still slows you to ×60, but your chosen speed comes back as soon as you're on a road again.
- The ring under you is smaller and centred on your feet, with a dark rim so it shows up on snow and sand.
- The route is now a trail of gold dots fixed to the ground, evenly spaced all the way to the horizon.
- The spot you clicked is marked with a gold X instead of a circle. A journey to a town ends in a slightly larger X.
Overworld map symbols
- Map dots and diamonds are now symbols, in the same colours as before:
- roaming monster bands: a skull
- dungeons: a stone arch (red if undiscovered, brass if found)
- party members and other players: a person (two people for a crowd)
- pilgrims and pedlars: a backpack
- gathering nodes: a pickaxe (Mining), a pine (Logging), a leaf (Herbalism), a paw print (Hunting) and a fish (Fishing)
Quest monsters are yours
- Quest monsters now appear only for the quest's owner and the owner's party, in dungeons, buildings and outdoors. This covers side quests and the main quest.
- Other players can't see them, can't hit them, and won't be attacked by them. Party members holding the same quest still get kill credit.
- A player standing next to you may see you fighting something they can't see.
Loot, chat and the Tab dial
- Quick loot shows each item's rarity: a coloured gem before the name and a soft band of that colour under the row (blue Magic, gold Rare, orange Legendary, pale blue Aetheric, purple Artifact, gold-leaf Gilded). Enhanced Plus and DFO Grimoire.
- Chat tabs scroll sideways with the mouse wheel. The edge with more tabs fades, and a clicked tab scrolls fully into view.
- DFO Grimoire's Tab dial now uses Daggerfall's own icons: your character's face for Skills, the HUD star for Magic, the sack for Inventory and the scroll for Map. To bring back the old paintings, go to Settings → Overhauls → DFO Grimoire → "Tab dial".
