Patch Notes: A new tutorial
Welcome to DFO
- The old tutorial is gone. New characters get a short welcome tour: moving and climbing, using things, the HUD, and the menu and saving.
- Any key a tutorial mentions is the key you have bound right now, named the way it appears on your keyboard.
A popup for every system
- The first time you reach something new, a short note explains it. About 56 systems have one, including:
- your inventory, spellbook, maps and the Overworld
- shops, banks, guilds and card tables
- horses and wagons, boats and sea battles
- Dagon's Breach, the arena and the Abyss Dungeon
- family, revenants and companions
- gathering, professions and survival
- chat, parties, duels and the open zone
- Each note shows once. Click or press a key to close it.
- Notes won't close from a key you're already holding.
- Notes wait until the pause menu and loading screens are gone.
The Tutorials menu
- A Tutorials tab in the pause menu and a Tutorials button on the main menu hold all 68 notes, in 13 sections.
- You can search the notes, and unread ones are marked.
- You can turn popups off, show them all again, or mark everything read.
Patch Notes: Other players stand on the ground
Fixed
- Other players no longer look like they're floating above the ground or sunk into it. Their height was being rounded to the nearest metre on its way to you, so depending on where they stood they could be up to half a metre off the ground.
- In dungeons, towns and buildings, other players no longer move in one-metre jumps.
Heads up
- This update restarts the online server once, so everyone online is disconnected briefly and reconnects.
Patch Notes: The guilds made plain
Your guild's pages say more
- Members has a new folded list, "What each rank may do". It shows every rank's powers in your guild's own rank names, each rank on top of the one below, and what a rank may not do: Officers and the Guildmaster don't fill their own guild's writs or get paid by its contracts. A Member and a Recruit hold the same powers, and the list now says so.
- Treasury now says which of the gold can buy a hall, or a new name or tag: only gold your realm characters put in.
- The silver ledger now says which way each line went. A Tribute, an upkeep or a claim fee reads "paid ...", where it used to read "put in". A line the guild made itself, such as a Sellsword hired or a Charter's upkeep, now reads as the guild's ("The guild hired a Sellsword for 1,500 silver").
- Settings lists everything that still stands in the way of disbanding, before you press: gold, the hall, the vault, guild Stores, open writs or contracts, a Charter, a battle, and silver your own account has no room to take. Disband waits on it and says why, and so does Leave for a guildmaster alone in the guild. You no longer clear one thing, press, and only then hear about the next. Opening Settings checks the list again.
- Overview says where the rest of your guild is run: seats and sieges from a seat town's Notice Board, writs and contracts from the Work tab.
- No guild yet? The tab now says, in two lines, what a guild is for.
Words
- Silver is called silver everywhere: a siege's Honour, a struck Charter's refund and the daily reset said "Marks".
- A vassal's 5% to its liege is its "fealty share", so "Tribute" means only what a guild pays at the seat it pledged.
- Your guild's heraldry is its "arms" everywhere, as on the Arms page.
