Patch Notes: The Sea Serpent, Reworked
Join any time
- Sethrakul's waters now stay open until it dives. The 08:00 storm no longer locks ships out, so latecomers and friends sailing out to help can still join.
A faster fight
- The serpent has a sixth less health, so fights end sooner. Two ships at average gunnery now win every time, in about 8½ minutes.
- One ship alone still can't bring it down.
The serpent's gale
- Inside its waters a gale fills your sails from every direction. No more beating upwind at half speed.
- Your ship also turns 1½ times faster while you're in it.
Fewer shoves
- Its blows throw your ship half as far and tear half as much canvas. You won't be pushed out of the fight and left unable to sail back.
Bigger
- Sethrakul is much thicker now (1.6 times its old girth), so slow cannonballs fired with lag still land.
Everyone aboard can fight
- Players standing on someone else's ship can hurt the serpent with their own bows and attack spells.
No more phasing through ships
- In the serpent's waters ships have a wide invisible buffer around them and bounce off each other, instead of colliding and passing through.
Fairer rewards
- Rewards no longer depend on being near the serpent when it dies.
- Dealing a real part of the damage (several volleys that land) now earns a hoard. Spending a quarter of the fight within range does too, where half was needed before.
- When the serpent falls, party members of any ship that dealt heavy damage also get a hoard, as long as they came to the fight.
