Patch Notes: Morrowind People
NPCs and enemies in Morrowind bodies
- With the Morrowind body on, the people and creatures around you stand in Morrowind bodies too. This covers dungeon and wilderness foes, the city watch, townsfolk walking the streets, people in buildings and dungeons, quest givers, the keepers of the Stables and Wagon Yards, ship crews, siege fighters, road parties, and the Oblivion Gate's boss and his host.
- Foes wear the armour and carry the weapons they rolled. Each has a race and face of their own.
- Online, everyone sees a foe as its owner does: the same race, face, armour and weapon. In a dungeon, each player's copy of a foe carries that player's own loot, and wears it.
- Townsfolk are dressed by their station: priests in robes, nobles in formal wear, merchants, scholars, and the town's guards in steel. In a living town, people wear what their sprite shows: the watch his uniform on duty, a guild's members and priests their class's gear.
- Foes swing, flinch when struck and fall when they die. Their tells show on the body too: the wind-up glint, the elite glow, the hit flash and the dissolve.
- A body is drawn at its sprite's size: elites stand larger, and the wild zone's giants tower over you. The dead lie where their corpse lies, on a moving deck too.
- Creatures use Morrowind's creatures where Daggerfall's have a match (rats, skeletons, daedra and more). Those with no match keep their classic sprite, as do flyers and swimmers with no Morrowind match that flies or swims.
- The Daedra Seducer keeps her disguise until she transforms.
- Ghosts and wraiths are Morrowind's ancestor ghost, seen through. Vampires wear their race's vampire face, werewolves stand as Bloodmoon's wolf, and orcs are Orcs.
Performance
- Bodies are drawn for the nearest people only, within one budget for the whole frame. Everyone farther away keeps the classic sprite, and so does everyone seen from the travel view.
- Third-person Morrowind bodies, yours included, are now skinned on the graphics card instead of the CPU.
- A new Morrowind People setting (Settings > Combat > With Morrowind data): Off, Near (the default, up to 24 bodies) or All (up to 48).
What's Changed
- MW-NPC (MWNPC1-15) + two audits + the merges of main: NPCs and enemies in Morrowind bodies, budgeted by @Lattymoy in #750
