Patch Notes: Fair boss fights
Oblivion Gates, the Abyss Dungeon and the Sea Serpent
- The server now checks the boss's attacks itself. Your game still shows each hit, but the server also works out, from where you were standing, which of the boss's blows reached you.
- The server keeps its own count of each fighter's health in these fights, and of each ship's hull against the serpent. Your game tells it your health as it changes, and potions, healing spells and repairs count as long as they stay within a set amount over time. Healing from your allies' spells doesn't use up that amount.
- If you sail off to repair your ship and come back to the serpent, the server counts your hull fresh.
- For now the server only records this. Nobody is knocked down or wrecked by it, and fights play exactly as before. Once a week of fights shows how much healing honest players really use, staff will switch it on.
- When it is switched on, a fighter the server counts as fallen will fall in their own game too. In the Abyss Dungeon that uses up your one life, and at sea it wrecks your ship.
- The server always gives you the benefit of the doubt. It only counts a blow if you were well inside the attack's area both just before and just after it landed, and it never counts elemental damage (fire, frost, shock, poison or magic), since your own resistances can block it.
