Patch Notes: Realm integrity, part 1 - the economy
Your online character's save is now checked by the server
- Every save the realm takes from an online character is now read by the server, not only the first. It checks that every item you hold is one the game can actually make, that your level matches what your character card shows, and that your gold, attributes and skills are within the game's limits.
- Nothing you play is ever lost to this. If something looks wrong, the save is still kept, and only trading is frozen: the market (listings, purchases, auctions, crafted pieces and your Stores), trades between players, guild vaults and treasuries, rent and card-table stakes. You'll see a message naming the item when that happens, and another when trading opens again.
- If the same valuable item turns up on two characters, the character that showed it second is the one checked; the original owner keeps theirs and can still sell it.
- Enchanted items brought into the realm from a classic Daggerfall save through customs stay yours, but can't be traded or sold in the realm.
- The server now records how fast each character's wealth grows against time actually played. For the first week it only measures; after that, wealth that grows faster than play could earn it will freeze trading until play catches up.
Fixes
- Items handed to you by other players (chests, bodies, shops) are now checked the same way. An impossible item is left out on its own, so an honest chest or body is never lost because of one bad piece.
- Items in for repair could be refused when passed between players; that's fixed.
