Patch Notes: The Living World - Whole Rooms and Stirring Streets
Taverns and rooms
- Townsfolk inside a building no longer bunch up by the door. They spread through the whole room and sit at tables set apart, never at a table split by a wall.
- Nobody sits in the tavern for hours waiting for lunch.
- Everyone in a room sees the same people in the same places, whether or not a door was left open.
The street stirs
- The watch posted at a city's gates stops strangers coming in and asks their business. Strangers answer civilly, curtly or with open hostility, and sellswords and sailors are rougher.
- Patrols stop strangers on their rounds.
- Townsfolk fall out with each other, more often in the evening between drinkers, and the watch breaks it up.
- Buyers haggle at stalls, and beggars ask passers-by for a coin.
- When someone shouts, the people nearby fall quiet and turn to look.
- Small voices fill the street: the night watch calls the hour, with words for the weather; stalls cry their wares; beggars call out; drinkers sing on the way home from the tavern.
Fixes
- Every player in a town sees the same incidents at the same places.
- A stranger at the gate names their own home town, and a beggar no longer calls a stranger by name.
- Every stranger stopped at a gate is questioned, and a gate stop no longer keeps a visitor from leaving town.
- The watch breaks up a quarrel even at a change of shift, and only one of a patrol pair calls the hour.
- A beggar no longer pulls a stall keeper away from their stall.
- Beggars and stall keepers turn to face whoever they are talking to.
- People in an incident greet you again once it's over.
- Stall keepers no longer cry their wares before they reach the stall.
