Patch Notes: One-Key Sneak, the Mode Wheel and a Controller Cursor
Crouch is sneak
- C now crouches and sneaks. While crouched you move at sneaking pace and the stealth checks apply, so enemies are slower to notice you.
- Left Alt no longer sneaks. The old standing sneak is still in Controls as an optional key, with no key set by default.
- If you had your own key bindings saved, you'll see a one-time on-screen note that Sneak lost its key.
The interaction mode wheel
- Hold Left Alt to open the wheel: Talk (up), Grab (right), Steal (down), Info (left).
- Flick the mouse toward a mode, then let go or click to choose. Move the mouse back to the middle to cancel.
- F1 through F4 no longer change modes by default, and no longer open the browser's help or find bar. You can bind the four modes back to any keys in Controls.
- On a controller, the d-pad's "next mode" still cycles through the modes.
A smoother controller cursor
- On a controller, the menu cursor now eases in, speeds up on a long full push, slows over buttons and settles onto the nearest one when you let go.
- It works in every menu, on both the Classic and Enhanced skins.
- At the main menu the left stick moves the same cursor and A presses what it's on; the d-pad still jumps from button to button.
- Don't like it? Settings → Controls → Controller cursor assist → Off gives back Daggerfall's plain fixed-speed cursor.
- Clicking with the controller cursor no longer acts like a held-down drag in some windows.
