Patch Notes: Snow, Wind and Heat Haze
Snow you walk through
- In winter, outside the deserts, real snow now lies on the ground, deeper in the wild than in towns. It builds up while snow falls and melts back in clear weather.
- You, monsters, guards and townsfolk leave tracks in it. Tracks slowly fill back in, faster while it snows, and they are kept in your save.
- A fallen enemy leaves a hollow in the snow where it lay.
- With Basic Roads, its paths and tracks keep only a thin layer of snow, and its main roads get a bank of snow along their edges.
- The winter ground under it has new textures.
Wind
- Wind now changes from day to day. Trees and plants sway and shiver, some days turn windy or stormy, and gusts come and go with their own sound.
- Leaves blow off the trees, and in winter snow blows off the boughs.
- The wind waits while the game is paused.
Heat haze
- In the deserts by day, the distant land and sky shimmer in the heat: fully under a clear sky, half as much under cloud, fading in after sunrise and out before sunset.
Desert sand
- The desert ground has new sand textures with ripples, from Sands of the Alik'r.
Settings
- All of it is on by default in the enhanced outdoors. Snowfall, Windfall and Heat Haze each have their own switch in Features; the desert sand and the winter ground are packs of their own on the Replacement packs card.
What's Changed
- Snowfall, Windfall, Heat Haze and Sands of the Alik'r - ported, audited and made cheaper (ALIKR1, HAZE1, WINDFALL1, SNOWFALL1, AUDIT ENVIRONS) by @Lattymoy in #692
