Patch Notes: One condition pool for every weapon

Weapon durability

  • Every weapon type now has the same base condition, the Warhammer's 1,600. Daggers, tantos and short bows started at 50 and long bows at 100, so they broke 16 to 32 times sooner than a warhammer of the same metal.
  • Material matters exactly as before: iron 1,600, steel and silver 2,400, elven 3,200, dwarven 4,800, mithril 6,400, adamantium 8,000, ebony 9,600, orcish 11,200, Daedric 12,800.
  • Enchanted weapons gain the most. A Cast-When-Strikes enchantment costs 10 condition a strike, so an iron Worm's Tooth now lasts 160 strikes instead of 5.
  • A Cast-When-Held enchantment pays its spell's casting cost in condition the first time it is equipped, often over a hundred. That broke an iron dagger, tanto or short bow on the spot. Now the weapon keeps the rest and lasts about four game days.
  • Bows no longer break after a couple of dozen hits: an iron short bow takes about 800 hits of 20 damage.
  • Light weapons and bows cost less to keep up, because a repair is priced by the share of condition lost.
  • Your weapons are updated when you load a save and keep the same percentage of condition. A broken weapon stays broken, and a half-worn dagger is half of its new pool. That covers every weapon your save holds, wherever it is, and a family heirloom paid to an heir. A weapon that comes back from the online market, a guild vault or a trade is updated the first time it takes wear.
  • Unchanged: how much a hit wears, armour, arrows, and the uses of classic magic items and artifacts.

Old items everywhere in your save

  • When you load, older items get their fixes wherever your save keeps them, not only in your pack, wagon and containers. The fixes: a weapon moves to the new condition pool, an item made with no condition gets one, Roleplay & Realism armour gets back the Brigandine, Fur or Mail word its name lost, old Sigil Stones are named Deadlands Embers, and a rolled jewel stuck on an unwearable Wand becomes an Amulet.
  • That now includes things set out in your house, quest items, a revenant's takings and a sworn revenant's pack, enemies' and guards' gear, and Project Legacy's bequests and remains. Before, an item in one of those places kept its old record until you carried it back and loaded again.
  • Project Legacy: an heir's bequest gets the same fixes when it is paid, and a fallen relative's remains get them when you open them.
  • A rolled Wand you set out in your house becomes an Amulet, but it still looks like a wand where it stands until you pick it up.

Online

  • Customs now counts gold and letters of credit in a sworn revenant companion's pack, the same as a crew companion's pack. Before, a revenant could carry any amount across uncapped.

What's Changed

  • WEAPON-POOL: every weapon type wears from one condition pool (the Warhammer's 1,600), material ladder kept; ITEM-WALK: the load's repairs reach every list a save holds, customs counts a sworn revenant's pack by @Lattymoy in #656
