Patch Notes: Map waypoints, travel speed dials, steadier shadows - and a meowing cat and a guard quest fixed

Waypoints

  • Right-click the Overworld or the world map (V) to place a waypoint. Give it a name and a flag colour, and choose who it is for: you alone, your party or your guild.
  • Party and guild waypoints are shared with the other members. Only the player who placed one can change it for everyone; anyone can rename or remove one on their own screen.
  • Follow a waypoint from the Overworld's filters: it stays marked at the edge of the screen with its distance. A waypoint's own menu can also send you travelling there.
  • Leaving a party or a guild removes its waypoints.

Travel

  • Two speed dials while travelling: the journey's speed and the speed while enemies are near. Both go x5, x10, x20, x30, x40 and x60, and x100 on a road only.
  • Leaving a road drops a dial at x100 to x60 at once; it does not climb back by itself. Journeys start at x60 - turn the dial up to x100 on a road.
  • The dials are in every interface: the Overworld's panel, the Enhanced journey bar, and a small speed box with the classic interface and GrimoireUI.
  • The Overworld's filters now sit in their own box at the bottom left, which folds away and can be moved like the rest of the HUD.

Combat

  • An enemy's health bar no longer shows an empty box under it; the poise bar appears only when there is something to show, and the bar has one shadow instead of two.

Lighting

  • With Enhanced Lighting on, shadows no longer blink all at once in some rooms. The shadow cache behind it is now off by default; turn it back on under Enhanced Lighting with "Shadow cache (faster, may flicker)".
  • Shadows hold steady through a brief hitch instead of flashing.

Fixes

  • Fixed a cat meowing many times a second while you looked at certain townspeople (reported in Chesterwark).
  • Fixed "Protect an Honored Mage" (Mages Guild) online: the three-hour guard could end before the assassins came, leaving the quest impossible to finish. The guard now lasts its full three hours of play, and the attack always comes inside it. A guard that already ended this way stays unfinished.

What's Changed

  • FIELD BUGS 2026-10-06c (CAT-MEOW, GUARD-WINDOW) and the three patch files: map waypoints, travel speed dials, the anti-flicker patch by @Lattymoy in #652
